In a new step that enhances the presence of Arab culture in the global digital space, the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language announced the signing of the operational agreement for the Digital Arabic Library during its participation in the Frankfurt International Book Fair 2025, one of the most prominent cultural platforms for the publishing and book industry in the world.
The center's president, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, confirmed that the project represents a qualitative leap in the digitization of Arab content, and is a continuation of the partnerships recently launched by the center with global platforms, contributing to the expansion of the reach of printed, electronic, and audio Arabic books, delivering them to millions of readers around the world.
Bin Tamim stated that technology is no longer just an auxiliary tool, but has become a key partner in the publishing industry and the development of Arab libraries, emphasizing that the center is working on building an integrated digital infrastructure that ensures the sustainability of the project and its capacity for future expansion. He pointed out that the goal is to transform technical and logistical challenges into opportunities that contribute to enriching Arab content and redefining the relationship between the reader and the library in the digital age.
The Digital Arabic Library is a knowledge platform that seeks to transfer Arab literature and thought into global languages, introducing non-Arabic-speaking readers to the masterpieces of Arab creativity from Naguib Mahfouz to Mahmoud Darwish, through modern digital translation that keeps pace with the spirit of the age and leverages the capabilities of artificial intelligence.
The center's president explained that launching the project from the Frankfurt Fair carries symbolic and cultural significance, as the fair serves as an annual meeting point for publishers and knowledge producers from various countries, and a space for dialogue about the transformations in the publishing industry and intellectual property rights. He noted that the center's presence at this international event affirms the ability of Arab culture to be an active partner in the digital future of knowledge, and that the Arabic language is qualified to occupy its rightful place in the global cultural scene.
He added that the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, through its initiatives in translation, publishing, and supporting reading, continues to solidify Abu Dhabi's position as a pivotal center for Arab knowledge and a beacon of culture, from which major projects launch towards the world to enhance human dialogue, knowledge exchange, and affirm the role of Arab culture in shaping the future.
