في هذا العمل، يكتب الغامدي سيرته كما لو أنه يروي حكاية المهنة نفسها، متتبعاً تحولات البث التلفزيوني في المملكة منذ اللقطة الأولى بالأبيض والأسود حتى المشهد الرقمي المتسارع اليوم، إذ تتقاطع التجربة الشخصية مع الذاكرة الجماعية للإعلاميين والمشاهدين على حد سواء.

وُلد الغامدي في الباحة عام 1960، وتخرج في جامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية حاملاً البكالوريوس في اللغة العربية، قبل أن يتوج دراسته بنيل الماجستير في سياسة الإدارة الإعلامية من جامعة جنوب كاليفورنيا، ليجمع بين الاحتراف الأكاديمي والجاذبية الجماهيرية، ويحظى بتكريمات من محافل عربية وخليجية تقديراً لعطائه الإعلامي الطويل.
ويأتي هذا الإصدار ضمن الحراك الثقافي الذي يشهده معرض الرياض الدولي للكتاب 2025 المقام في جامعة الأميرة نورة بنت عبدالرحمن حتى 11 أكتوبر الجاري، وتتقاطع فيه التجارب الأدبية والفكرية والإعلامية في مشهد ثقافي سعودي يتجه بثقة نحو العالمية، بتنظيم من هيئة الأدب والنشر والترجمة.

The author documents the most significant milestones of his professional journey, starting from his beginnings at the Saudi Arabian Television, through his diverse experiences at Orbit and MBC, and his programs that have remained part of viewers' memories, such as "What Viewers Want," "The Viewers' Race," and "The Arts Tape," culminating in his field participation in covering the visits of kings and princes and accompanying them on official and cultural trips inside and outside the Kingdom, enriched by the human experiences and rare professional insights those journeys brought.

In his book "The Shepherd and the Screen," Al-Ghamdi observes the transformation of the tools of the profession from paper messages and phone calls to interactive broadcasting and digital platforms. However, he emphasizes that the essence of the media message has not changed; true media begins with the honesty of the individual and ends with its impact on people.
Al-Ghamdi was born in Al-Bahah in 1960 and graduated from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University with a bachelor's degree in Arabic language, before culminating his studies with a master's degree in media management policy from the University of Southern California, combining academic professionalism with public appeal, and receiving honors from Arab and Gulf forums in recognition of his long media contributions.
This publication comes as part of the cultural movement witnessed at the Riyadh International Book Fair 2025, held at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University until October 11, where literary, intellectual, and media experiences intersect in a Saudi cultural scene confidently heading towards global recognition, organized by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission.
