It is very sad in my opinion, after we have reached this time; the time of science, information, artificial intelligence, and technology, that there are no libraries in our schools where students can spend their free time, break time, or the time when the teacher is absent from the class, so they can draw from its knowledge to develop their skills and nurture their minds, and it becomes a reason for them to get used to reading from a young age.
It is indeed a troubling matter that attention is given to the cafeteria while the existence of a library is not given the same level of importance. I do not say that attention to the cafeteria and the students' food is unnecessary; on the contrary, it is important and essential. However, I believe that attention to their minds should be of equal importance, or perhaps even more so; because building minds is more and much more important than filling stomachs.
I believe that every school planned to be built in the coming years should have a spacious place for a library filled with books and rich in knowledge and culture, containing various sciences that differ according to the age group of the school’s students.
Not only that, but even the existing schools should, in my opinion, convert a large classroom into a library. Books can be collected through donations, or by purchasing clean used books at low prices, or the Ministry of Education can buy those books from publishers in large quantities at discounted prices and distribute them to schools.
I hope that the library will be a fundamental requirement in building schools in the future, and I hope that libraries in schools will not just be a closed room, but will be open throughout the school day for all students, for those who wish to sit in it or borrow a book to read, provided that this does not distract them from their lessons and classes.
I hope this decision is made as soon as possible, and that the primary focus is on elementary school students because they are the youth of the future and the nation's weapon and ammunition. Focusing on their education, culture, and building their minds with beneficial sciences will accelerate their growth, and thus elevate the status of the nation and the community.
Finally, I hope that there will be a variety of books in the libraries so that students and teachers feel eager to read, or at least browse, and reading will gradually come. With knowledge, nations are built and endure, and with culture, the status of societies is elevated and awareness rises.
