At the end of each month, a familiar movement re-emerges in the Saudi markets, known to both citizens and residents alike. As soon as salaries are disbursed, purchasing power rises, shops, restaurants, and services become active, and liquidity flows back into the economic cycle. This phenomenon is not fleeting but a clear indicator that government and private sector jobs remain the most important source of individual liquidity, and that salaries remain the backbone of the Saudi economy as they are the direct driver of local demand and market activity throughout the year.
However, the impact of this liquidity is not complete without the individual's awareness in organizing their income to last the entire month. Stable spending alleviates pressure on families, enhances responsible financial planning, and makes individual spending more balanced within the economic cycle. Electronic payment systems contribute to accelerating the flow of money and improving cash circulation efficiency in the markets.
To liberate the economy from excessive reliance on fixed jobs, there is a need to develop small and medium enterprises and to create success stories for Saudi entrepreneurs. These enterprises directly receive monthly liquidity, expand the economic base, create additional job opportunities, and contribute to diversifying income sources. The wider their base, the more the effect of salaries shifts from immediate consumption to generating sustainable value, aligning with the objectives of "Vision 2030" to increase the contribution of the private sector.
Domestic tourism plays an important role in revitalizing the economy and localizing liquidity through spending on housing, food, and recreational services. However, the rising prices in restaurants, hotels, and entertainment facilities, despite being linked to improved quality, push many individuals towards cheaper alternatives outside the borders, weakening the localization of spending and limiting the impact of tourism on the gross domestic product. Hence, there is a need for alternatives that offer suitable quality at a better price, keeping money within the country instead of allowing it to migrate abroad.
The individual’s spending remains the main driver of the Saudi economy; salaries create liquidity, small businesses invest it, and domestic tourism preserves it and enhances the gross domestic product.
