I write today with pride about the initiative "Jazan in a Week," which is launched weekly from the Council of the Emir of the Jazan Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz, and under the watch of his deputy, Prince Nasser bin Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Jiluwi Al Saud.
The initiative, which showcases a transparent open week of government services to citizens, reflects a deep leadership awareness of the concepts of modern governance theory, based on clarity, transparency, accountability, and participation. It embodies a qualitative leap in government management, as it activates the Management by Objectives (MBO) theory through publicly tracking performance and measuring results.
What is distinctive about the initiative is that it does not stop at merely presenting information; it engages citizens and opens the door for them to express their opinions freely. This is a true translation of the Stakeholder Theory, which believes that the effectiveness of institutions is enhanced by their interaction with the community. It highlights transformational leadership in its clearest forms, as it stimulates change and ignites positive competition among entities, which is what the transformational leadership theory points to in building an inspiring and evolving work environment.
By all measures, "Jazan in a Week" is a model to be emulated by all entities and regions, to instill a culture of achievement, stimulate institutional performance, and reinforce the principle of "the citizen as a partner in development," not just a recipient of it.
These weekly sessions between the prince, officials, citizens, tribal chiefs, and dignitaries provide an opportunity for direct communication. The prince receives, listens, and discusses needs and suggestions, while citizens raise regional issues with ease and transparency, aiming to achieve sustainable development for the Jazan region and the aspirations of its people. It is the week that showcases the achievements and efforts of the region's officials and its residents.
Finally:
