When we now talk about the Saudi youth generation, it often means discussing those born at the beginning of the new millennium, or a little before or after, who did not witness the significant events that their country went through, and the malicious conspiracies that targeted its security and unity. This began with the attempt to demonize the Kingdom after the events of September 11, followed by a surge of terrorist crimes in the cities of the Kingdom perpetrated by youth whose minds were brainwashed, leading them to kill their own people and engage in destruction in their homeland, culminating in what was called the Arab Spring, which aimed to target the Kingdom as a state and a homeland by employing foreign agents and traitors from within. However, the state's vigilance and firmness thwarted those dangerous conspiracies and rescued the nation from the looming dangers, ushering in a new historical phase of growth, prosperity, security, and stability led by the comprehensive national vision.
If we go back to the distant past, this generation may not know many details about how the third Saudi state was established by the late King Abdulaziz amidst great difficulties and dangers, how it safely navigated through delicate global circumstances, and how its parts united through epic battles to become the entity we live in today, which withstood a series of conspiracies during the turmoil that prevailed in the Arab world in the 1950s and 1960s. The nation traversed all those difficult chapters with the wisdom and courage of its leadership, and the solidarity of the people who stood as a strong barrier and a fortified wall against infiltrations, intrigues, misinformation, incitement, and cheap media propaganda. The deceivers went away with their lies, leaving their homelands burdened with troubles, while this nation continued to build itself, both humanly and materially, quietly reaching what it has achieved.
We are now living a great and eternal occasion, which is the anniversary of the National Day, a day when military vehicles do not parade in the streets, generals do not line up on platforms with their medals, and the oppressed do not shout for freedom and democracy, of which they know only the name, while they search for a meager livelihood in systems that count their breaths. On our National Day, the monuments of development stand as practical evidence of how nations are managed through sincere work, and people go out to celebration sites with a natural, spontaneous joy to celebrate their homeland and leadership, without pretense or flattery. Both the young and the old adorn themselves with the flags of the nation, sing for the homeland, and congratulate themselves on the security and tranquility they enjoy. Here, the difference becomes clear between those who are forcibly led to chant slogans they do not believe in, and those who voluntarily go out to genuinely express their love for their homelands and loyalty to their leadership.
The youth generation that is now reaping the fruits of the journey of work, construction, and comprehensive development must know well the history of their homeland not only to take pride in it but also to understand how it managed to overcome difficulties, neutralize dangers, extinguish strife, and thwart conspiracies. They must know that we still face significant challenges in a current global phase marked by turmoil and ambiguity, during which the Kingdom is trying to steer the ship of the homeland safely towards the future it aspires to, relying on a generation armed with awareness, knowledge, and belonging.
