لدينا مطار أنيق جداً في مدينة جدة؛ تستمتع بأجوائه حتى تصل إلى منطقة المطاعم، فتستقبلك رائحة الدجاج المقلي، فتنتقل للحظات من أجواء المطار الأنيق إلى أجواء محيط محطة باصات خط البلدة القديمة، قبل أن تفيق على أصوات نداءات الرحلات !
وفي مطار الملك خالد لا يختلف الأمر كثيراً، ففي منطقة العبور إلى محطة مترو الصالة الداخلية (5)، تمر على مجموعة من مطاعم الوجبات السريعة التي تخنقك بروائح أطعمتها النافذة قبل الدخول إلى منطقة محطة قطار الرياض !
في الحقيقة لا أعلم ما هي معايير اختيار المطاعم ومواءمتها لأجواء صالات المطارات، لكن كان يجب: إمّا تشديد المعايير أو إيجاد وسائل فعّالة لتنقية الروائح وشفط الهواء في هذه المطاعم، حتى لا يجد المسافر أي سلبية في تجربة سفره !
وخلال عودتي من حائل عبر قطار سار، لاحظت أن أحد مطاعم الدجاج المقلي يجهز العدّة لافتتاح فرعه داخل صالة محطة قطار سار بالرياض، وأنصح القائمين على المحطة بالتأكد من جاهزية المطعم لشفط روائحه، حتى لا تصبح الصالة الضخمة جزءاً من مساحة المطعم بروائحه !
والحقيقة أنك تدهش من مطارات بهذه التكاليف العالية لا تحسب حساباً للتخلّص من الروائح المنبعثة من بعض أنواع أطعمة بعض المطاعم، حتى لا تصبح الروائح الخانقة والكريهة جزءاً من هوية المكان !
We have a very elegant airport in the city of Jeddah; you enjoy its atmosphere until you reach the dining area, where the smell of fried chicken greets you, momentarily transporting you from the elegant airport ambiance to the atmosphere surrounding the old town bus station, before you snap back to reality with the sounds of flight announcements!
At King Khalid Airport, the situation is not much different. In the transit area to the metro station of Terminal 5, you pass by a group of fast-food restaurants that suffocate you with the aromas of their food before entering the Riyadh train station area!
In fact, I do not know what the criteria are for selecting restaurants and how they fit the atmosphere of airport lounges, but there should be: either stricter standards or effective means to purify the odors and ventilate the air in these restaurants, so that travelers do not encounter any negativity in their travel experience!
During my return from Hail via the SAR train, I noticed that one of the fried chicken restaurants was preparing to open its branch inside the SAR train station lounge in Riyadh, and I advise those in charge of the station to ensure that the restaurant is ready to ventilate its odors, so that the large lounge does not become part of the restaurant's space with its smells!
The truth is, it is astonishing that airports with such high costs do not take into account the need to eliminate the odors emanating from certain types of food from some restaurants, so that the suffocating and unpleasant smells do not become part of the identity of the place!
