أوقفت السلطات التركية 11 شخصًا على خلفية وفاة سائحة تركية تحمل الجنسية الألمانية وطفليها، في واقعة تسمم لا تزال ملابساتها غامضة داخل مدينة إسطنبول.
وكانت الأسرة قد وصلت من ألمانيا لقضاء عطلة قصيرة قبل أن تظهر عليهم أعراض حادة الأربعاء الماضي، عقب تناول أطعمة من بائعين جائلين في منطقة أورتاكوي السياحية المطلة على البوسفور.
ونُقلت الأسرة إلى المستشفى فور تدهور حالتها، إلا أن الطفلين توفيا يوم الخميس، بينما لحقت بهما الأم في اليوم التالي، فيما لا يزال الأب يرقد في العناية المركزة. وتم التعرف على الضحايا وهم: تشيدم بوتشيك، وطفلاها قادر (6 سنوات) وماسال (3 سنوات).
وركّزت التحقيقات في بدايتها على فرضية التسمم الغذائي، قبل أن تظهر معلومات جديدة ترجّح تعرض الأسرة لمادة سامة ناجمة عن مبيد حشري داخل الفندق الذي أقاموا فيه. وتشير إفادات المحققين إلى أن غرفة بالطابق الأرضي رُشّت لمكافحة بقّ الفراش، وربما تسربت المواد السامة إلى غرفة الأسرة بالطابق الأول عبر فتحات التهوية.
واضطرت السلطات إلى إخلاء الفندق الواقع في حي الفاتح، بعد نقل نزيلين آخرين إلى المستشفى بأعراض مشابهة، لتغلق البلدية المبنى بالكامل. وتشمل قائمة الموقوفين خمسة من باعة الأطعمة، ومالك الفندق، واثنين من العاملين فيه، وثلاثة من موظفي شركة المبيدات.
ومن المنتظر أن يُعرَض ثمانية من المشتبه بهم على قاضٍ للتحقيق، بينما تترقب السلطات تقرير السموم الرسمي وتحليل العينات الغذائية التي فحصتها وزارة الزراعة، لتحديد السبب النهائي للوفاة.
ودُفن الضحايا الثلاثة في مسقط رأس الأسرة بقرية في منطقة بولفادين وسط تركيا، في جنازة حضرها أقاربهم وأهالي المنطقة.
The Turkish authorities have detained 11 people in connection with the death of a Turkish tourist holding German nationality and her two children, in a poisoning incident whose circumstances remain unclear in the city of Istanbul.
The family had arrived from Germany for a short vacation before they exhibited severe symptoms last Wednesday, after consuming food from street vendors in the tourist area of Ortaköy overlooking the Bosphorus.
The family was taken to the hospital as soon as their condition deteriorated, but the two children died on Thursday, while the mother followed them the next day, and the father remains in intensive care. The victims have been identified as: Chedem Butchik, and her children Kadir (6 years old) and Masal (3 years old).
Initially, the investigations focused on the hypothesis of food poisoning, before new information emerged suggesting that the family was exposed to a toxic substance resulting from a pesticide inside the hotel where they were staying. Investigators' statements indicate that a room on the ground floor was sprayed to combat bedbugs, and the toxic materials may have leaked into the family’s room on the first floor through ventilation openings.
The authorities were forced to evacuate the hotel located in the Fatih district after two other guests were taken to the hospital with similar symptoms, leading the municipality to close the entire building. The list of detainees includes five food vendors, the hotel owner, two of its employees, and three staff members from the pesticide company.
Eight of the suspects are expected to be presented to a judge for investigation, while the authorities await the official toxicology report and the analysis of food samples examined by the Ministry of Agriculture to determine the final cause of death.
The three victims were buried in the family's hometown in a village in the Bolvadin area of central Turkey, in a funeral attended by their relatives and local residents.
