«فيضانات باكستان»: إجلاء 25 ألف شخص.. وتحذيرات من كارثة

Pakistani officials reported today (Monday) that rescue teams supported by the Pakistani army conducted urgent evacuations of about 25,000 people from the city of Jalalpur Pirwala in Punjab province overnight, due to rising river levels and the threat of flooding.

The Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Irfan Ali Khatia, stated that the rescue operations began last night (Sunday) and continued throughout the night to transfer residents from high-risk areas to safer locations.

Flood Warnings

Local and international authorities have warned of the risk of worsening floods in Punjab province in the coming days, especially after heavy rainfall and the capsizing of a rescue boat that resulted in the deaths of five people, which heightened concerns about the safety of residents in low-lying areas.

Widespread Damage

So far, the severe weather has caused damage to millions of people, affecting more than 4,100 villages in 25 districts of Punjab province, as river levels continue to rise and threaten more rural communities.

Urgent Calls for Intervention

As the state of emergency continues, local and international humanitarian organizations have appealed for urgent assistance to alleviate the suffering of residents and secure shelter, food, and water, before the disaster escalates further in the coming days.
