تجددت النيران، مساء اليوم (الخميس)، داخل مبنى سنترال رمسيس المركزي بمنطقة الأزبكية في وسط القاهرة، بعد أربعة أيام من الحريق الهائل الذي اندلع يوم الإثنين 7 يوليو، وأسفر عن مصرع 4 موظفين وإصابة العشرات.
شهدت المنطقة انتشارًا مكثفًا لسيارات الإطفاء التي هرعت إلى موقع الحادث للسيطرة على الحريق الجديد، وسط تداعيات واسعة شملت عطلًا في عدد من ماكينات الصراف الآلي وخدمات الإنترنت في بعض المناطق.
وتلقت غرفة عمليات النجدة بلاغًا، قبل قليل، يفيد باشتعال النيران مجددًا في أحد الطوابق العلوية بمبنى سنترال رمسيس، الذي يُعد أحد أهم مراكز معالجة البيانات والاتصالات في مصر.
وعلى الفور، انتشرت سيارات الإطفاء المدفوعة من قوات الحماية المدنية، المزودة بسلالم هيدروليكية متطورة للوصول إلى الطوابق العليا حيث اندلعت النيران. واستخدمت فرق الإطفاء معدات متخصصة لمحاصرة الحريق ومنع امتداده إلى المباني المجاورة، وسط تصاعد أعمدة الدخان الكثيف في سماء وسط البلد.
ووفقًا لمصادر أمنية، تم فرض كردون أمني حول المبنى لتأمين المنطقة وضمان سلامة المواطنين، مع قطع التيار الكهربائي في محيط سنترال رمسيس كإجراء احترازي، كما تواجدت سيارات الإسعاف تحسبًا لأي إصابات، رغم عدم تسجيل خسائر بشرية حتى الآن في الحريق المتجدد.
وأشارت تحقيقات أولية إلى أن الحريق قد يكون ناتجًا عن بقايا لهب أو مواد قابلة للاشتعال لم يتم تبريدها بالكامل عقب الحريق الأول.
The fire reignited this evening (Thursday) inside the Central Ramses building in the Azbakeya area of downtown Cairo, four days after the massive blaze that broke out on Monday, July 7, resulting in the deaths of four employees and injuries to dozens.
The area witnessed a heavy presence of fire trucks that rushed to the scene to control the new fire, amid widespread repercussions that included malfunctions in several ATMs and internet services in some areas.
The emergency operations room received a report a short while ago indicating that flames had reignited on one of the upper floors of the Ramses Central building, which is considered one of the most important data processing and communication centers in Egypt.
Immediately, fire trucks dispatched by the civil protection forces, equipped with advanced hydraulic ladders to reach the upper floors where the fire broke out, spread throughout the area. Firefighting teams used specialized equipment to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings, as thick columns of smoke rose into the sky over downtown.
According to security sources, a security cordon was imposed around the building to secure the area and ensure the safety of citizens, with the electricity supply cut off in the vicinity of Ramses Central as a precautionary measure. Ambulances were also present in anticipation of any injuries, although no human losses have been reported so far in the renewed fire.
Initial investigations indicated that the fire may have been caused by remnants of flames or flammable materials that were not fully cooled after the initial fire.
