لقي 9 أشخاص على الأقل حتفهم عقب انهيار جسر في نهر في ولاية جوجارات بغرب الهند، حسبما ذكرت وكالة «بريس تراست أوف إنديا» نقلاً عن مسؤولي الشرطة.
وقال وزير الصحة بالولاية روشيكيش باتيل، إن عدة مركبات كانت على الجسر عندما انهار جزء منه، ما أدى لسقوط عدد منها في النهر. وأضاف أنه تم إنقاذ 5 أشخاص على الأقل.
ووقع الحادث في منطقة فادودارا بولاية جوجارات، التي شهدت هطول أمطار غزيرة خلال الأيام الماضية.
وأشار باتيل إلى أنه تم بناء الجسر عام 1985.
وأعرب رئيس الوزراء الهندي ناريندرا مودي عن أسفه لوقوع الحادث، وقدم تعازيه لأسر الضحايا.
At least 9 people have died following the collapse of a bridge over a river in the state of Gujarat in western India, according to the Press Trust of India, citing police officials.
State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel stated that several vehicles were on the bridge when part of it collapsed, causing some to fall into the river. He added that at least 5 people have been rescued.
The incident occurred in the Vadodara area of Gujarat, which has experienced heavy rainfall over the past few days.
Patel noted that the bridge was built in 1985.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the incident and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
