رجّح الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب تمديد المهلة الممنوحة لشركة «بايت دانس» لبيع الأصول الأمريكية لتطبيق «تيك توك»، مع اقتراب الموعد النهائي المحدد في 19 يونيو دون التوصل إلى اتفاق، وفق ما نقلت وكالة «رويترز».
ويواجه التطبيق تهديداً فعلياً بالحظر داخل الولايات المتحدة، بعد صدور قانون خلال ولاية الرئيس السابق جو بايدن يلزم الشركة الأم ببيع «تيك توك» أو وقف تشغيله على الأراضي الأمريكية.
وسبق لترمب أن مدد المهلة مرتين، وكان من المقرر أن تنتهي في أبريل، قبل أن يوقع أمراً تنفيذياً ثانياً سمح بتمديد إضافي ينتهي الخميس القادم.
ولدى ترمب خيار تمديد جديد، لكن لا تزال هناك تساؤلات قانونية وسياسية حول المدى الزمني الذي يمكن أن يستمر فيه التأجيل قبل إلزام «بايت دانس» بقرار حاسم.
U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested extending the deadline granted to "ByteDance" to sell its American assets for the "TikTok" app, as the deadline set for June 19 approaches without reaching an agreement, according to Reuters.
The app faces a real threat of being banned in the United States, following a law enacted during the presidency of former President Joe Biden that requires the parent company to either sell "TikTok" or cease its operations on U.S. soil.
Trump has previously extended the deadline twice, which was originally set to end in April, before signing a second executive order that allowed for an additional extension that ends next Thursday.
Trump has the option for a new extension, but there are still legal and political questions about how long the postponement can last before "ByteDance" is compelled to make a decisive decision.
