علمت «عكاظ» من مصادر الخاصة أن إدارة الأهلي أبدت اهتمامها في التعاقد مع المدرب الإسباني أرنستو فالفيردي لخلافة الألماني ماتياس يايسله في قيادة الفريق في الموسم الرياضي الجديد.
وكانت آخر المحطات التدريبية للمدرب الإسباني فالفيردي في قيادة أتلتيك بيبلباو، واستقال بنهاية الموسم الماضي، بعد مسيرة استمرت ثلاث فترات تدريبية ما بين موسم 2003 أولاً ومن ثم 2013 والفترة الأخيرة، وسبق لفالفيردي قيادة أندية فياريال وفالنسيا وبرشلونة وحقق لقب كأس السوبر الإسباني (2015)، وكأس ملك إسبانيا (2014)، وتأهل 3 مرات لدوري أبطال أوروبا (2014 و2015 و2025)
“Okaz” learned from private sources that the Al-Ahli administration has shown interest in contracting with Spanish coach Ernesto Valverde to succeed German Matthias Jaissle in leading the team in the new sports season.
Valverde's last coaching stint was with Athletic Bilbao, where he resigned at the end of last season after a career that spanned three coaching periods: first in 2003, then in 2013, and the most recent one. Valverde has previously coached Villarreal, Valencia, and Barcelona, winning the Spanish Super Cup (2015) and the Copa del Rey (2014), and he qualified for the UEFA Champions League three times (2014, 2015, and 2025).
