أكد رئيس الأرجنتين خافيير ميلي أنه لن يكون غداً في أمريكا لحضور نهائي مونديال كأس العالم الذي سيجمع بلاده مع منتخب إسبانيا، وذلك خلال حديثه الذي أدلى به لإذاعة «إل أوبسيرفادور».
وأشار الرئيس إلى أنه سيتابع النهائي في مقر الرئاسة، وذلك بسبب الطقوس والخرافات التي يتبعها بدقة عند مشاهدة مباريات منتخب بلاده.
كما أعلن خافيير، المعروف بـ«تشاؤمه الشديد» تجاه كسر العادات الجالبة للحظ، أنه سيشاهد المباراة عبر التلفزيون من مقر إقامته.
وقال في حديثه: «لن أحضر النهائي، تحت أي ظرف من الظروف، سأواصل مشاهدة المباريات من أوليفوس (مقر الرئاسة)، كما فعلت منذ اليوم الأول».
وعندما سأله الصحفي مستفسرًا: هل هذا بسبب الخرافة؟، أجاب قائلاً: نعم، موضحًا أنه يشاهد مباريات «التانغو» في غرفة السينما بمقر «أوليفوس»، برفقة شقيقته كارينا، الأمينة العامة لرئاسة الجمهورية.
وشارك الرئيس الأرجنتيني تفصيلًا آخر غريبًا حول طقوسه خلال المونديال، حيث أكد أنه سيشاهد المباراة مرتديًا سترة شتوية سميكة تحمل شعار شركة النفط الوطنية (YPF)، وهي السترة نفسها التي ارتداها خلال فوز الأرجنتين على سويسرا (3-1) في ربع النهائي.
وتابع ميلي حديثه: بما أن الجو كان باردًا ولم أقم بتشغيل التدفئة، فقد ارتديت سترة شركة النفط، وبفضلها شعرت بدفء شديد يوم المباراة ضد سويسرا، ولكن عندما خلعتها، استقبلت شباكنا هدفًا، فارتديتها مجددًا فورًا ولم أخلعها منذ ذلك الحين.
على الجانب المقابل، سيكون الدعم الإسباني حاضرًا من أعلى المستويات، إذ أعلن الديوان الملكي الإسباني أن الملك فيليب السادس سيحضر المباراة النهائية يوم الأحد في مدينة إيست روثرفورد بنيوجيرسي (إحدى ضواحي نيويورك)، وذلك بعد فوز إسبانيا على فرنسا (2-0) في نصف النهائي. وسترافق الملك زوجته الملكة ليتيزيا، وابنتاهما الأميرة ليونور والأميرة صوفيا.
The President of Argentina, Javier Milei, confirmed that he will not be in America tomorrow to attend the World Cup final that will bring his country together with the Spanish national team, during a conversation he had with the radio station "El Observador".
The president indicated that he will follow the final from the presidential residence, due to the rituals and superstitions he strictly adheres to when watching his national team's matches.
Javier, known for his "extreme pessimism" regarding breaking luck-bringing habits, announced that he will watch the match on television from his residence.
He said in his remarks: "I will not attend the final, under any circumstances; I will continue watching the matches from Olivos (the presidential residence), as I have done since day one."
When a journalist asked him: Is this because of superstition?, he replied: Yes, explaining that he watches the "Tango" matches in the cinema room at "Olivos," accompanied by his sister Karina, the Secretary General of the Presidency.
The Argentine president shared another strange detail about his rituals during the World Cup, confirming that he will watch the match wearing a thick winter jacket bearing the logo of the national oil company (YPF), the same jacket he wore during Argentina's victory over Switzerland (3-1) in the quarter-finals.
Milei continued his talk: Since the weather was cold and I did not turn on the heating, I wore the oil company jacket, and thanks to it, I felt very warm on the match day against Switzerland. However, when I took it off, we conceded a goal, so I put it back on immediately and haven't taken it off since then.
On the other side, Spanish support will be present at the highest levels, as the Spanish royal palace announced that King Felipe VI will attend the final match on Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey (a suburb of New York), following Spain's victory over France (2-0) in the semi-finals. The king will be accompanied by his wife, Queen Letizia, and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia.
