The Italian club Como announced the mutual termination of its contract with English player Dele Alli, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Everton player, after he played only 10 minutes with the team.
Alli, 29, joined Como in January on an 18-month contract, but he only played one match during which he received a direct red card in a game against Milan last March.
The management clarified in a joint statement with the player that both parties agreed to terminate the contract, noting that Alli is seeking regular playing opportunities, and since he was not part of the team's immediate plans, the separation was the most suitable decision before the transfer window closed.
Dele Alli's professional career has seen significant twists, as he rose to prominence early when he moved to Tottenham in 2015, shining there remarkably and winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award for the 2016-2017 seasons. He was also one of the standout stars who contributed to the London team's reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2019, and during this period, he represented the England national team in the UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup.
The 2019 season marked the beginning of the end for Dele Alli, who lost his starting position at Tottenham due to injuries and disciplinary issues. The English star tried to regain his brilliance through several stints with Everton, Turkish club Beşiktaş, and finally Italian Como, but all attempts were unsuccessful.
