حقق المنتخب السعودي للسباحة وكرة الماء إنجازا تاريخيا لأول مرة يحققه منذ تأسيس اتحاد اللعبة في عام 1976، وخلال مشاركته في البطولات العربية، إذ توج المنتخب بـ 39 ميدالية ملونة (3 ذهبيات و17فضية و19برونزية)، و15 رقماً قياسياً في السباحة، والميدالية الفضية في لعبة كرة الماء بعد أن حل ثانيا في البطولة العربية للألعاب المائية للفئات السنية التي اختتمت أمس في المغرب. وجاء ميداليات المنتخب السعودي عن طريق السباح محمد الزاكي، وحقق 4 ميداليات (ذهبية، و3 برونزيات) في فئة العمومي، والسباح، خالد البلبيسي 3 ميداليات (3 فضيات) في فئة 13-14، ومحمد العتيبي الذي توج بـ(ذهبية وفضية وبرونزية) لفئة العمومي، ويوسف بوعريش، الذي توج بفضيتين وبرونزية لفئة العمومي، وأضاف السباح سلطان العتيبي ذهبية وبرونزية لفئة العمومي، وخطف السباح علي العيسى فضية لفئة العمومي، فيما توج عماد الصبياني بميداليتين فضيتين، للفئة العمرية 13-14 عاما، وخطف جاسم الغريب ميداليتين برونزيتين لفئة 13-14 عاما، كما أضاف السباح زيد السراج ميداليتين فضية وبرونزية لفئة 17-18 عاما، وأضاف كل من فهد العويقلة،(فضية)، وفي غانم الصلحي (برونزية) لفئة 15-16 عاما، وحمزة العايد (برونزية)،
وأحمد المعيبد، فضية لفئة العمومي، فيما جاء باقي الميداليات عن طريق فرق التتابع للفئات العمرية الأربعة (عمومي) وفئة (13-14) سنة، وفئة (15-16)، وفئة( 17-18) عاما 13 ميدالية.
يذكر أن المنتخب السعودي يشارك في البطولة ببعثة مكونة من 40 لاعبًا يمثلون المملكة في منافسات السباحة وكرة الماء.
ورأس الوفد المدير التنفيذي للاتحاد السعودي للسباحة الدكتور زياد أبو الحمائل، فيما يضم الجهاز الإداري كلًا من عمرو مبارك، هاني العيسى، وعبدالله الرشيد، ويشمل الجهاز الفني لمنتخب السباحة كمال خمري، أنور بوتبينه، جون رود، فارس عطار، مازن العبيدي، فوزي بوجلال، ومايكل أخصائي علاج طبيعي، فيما يدرب منتخب كرة الماء الإيطالي أرلاندو، ويساعده محمد الزهراني، ومايكل.
وتأتي المشاركة ضمن خطط الاتحاد السعودي للسباحة؛ لتعزيز حضور المنتخبات الوطنية في البطولات الإقليمية والدولية، ودعم تطوير القطاع الرياضي ورفع مستوى التنافسية.

The Saudi national team for swimming and water polo achieved a historic accomplishment for the first time since the establishment of the sport's federation in 1976, during its participation in the Arab championships. The team won 39 colored medals (3 golds, 17 silvers, and 19 bronzes), set 15 records in swimming, and secured a silver medal in water polo after finishing second in the Arab Water Sports Championship for age categories, which concluded yesterday in Morocco. The medals for the Saudi team came from swimmer Mohammed Al-Zaki, who achieved 4 medals (1 gold and 3 bronzes) in the open category, swimmer Khalid Al-Balbeesi with 3 medals (3 silvers) in the 13-14 category, and Mohammed Al-Otaibi, who won (1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze) in the open category. Yusuf Bouarish won 2 silvers and 1 bronze in the open category, while swimmer Sultan Al-Otaibi added 1 gold and 1 bronze in the open category. Swimmer Ali Al-Essa snatched a silver in the open category, while Imad Al-Sabiani secured 2 silvers in the 13-14 age group. Jassim Al-Ghareeb captured 2 bronzes in the 13-14 age group, and swimmer Zaid Al-Saraj added 1 silver and 1 bronze in the 17-18 age group. Additionally, both Fahd Al-Owaiklah (silver) and Ghanem Al-Sulhi (bronze) competed in the 15-16 age group, along with Hamza Al-Aid (bronze),
and Ahmed Al-Muaybid, who won a silver in the open category. The remaining medals were earned by relay teams from the four age categories (open), 13-14 years, 15-16 years, and 17-18 years, totaling 13 medals.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi team participated in the championship with a delegation consisting of 40 players representing the Kingdom in swimming and water polo.
The delegation was led by the Executive Director of the Saudi Swimming Federation, Dr. Ziad Abu Al-Hamael, while the administrative team includes Amr Mubarak, Hani Al-Essa, and Abdullah Al-Rashed. The coaching staff for the swimming team consists of Kamal Khamri, Anwar Boutbina, John Road, Fares Attar, Mazen Al-Obeidi, Fawzi Boujalal, and Michael, a physiotherapist. The water polo team is coached by the Italian Orlando, assisted by Mohammed Al-Zahrani and Michael.
This participation is part of the Saudi Swimming Federation's plans to enhance the presence of national teams in regional and international competitions and to support the development of the sports sector and raise the level of competitiveness.
