The South African player of Al-Ettifaq, Mohao Nkota, has etched his name in the annals of history, becoming the first player from South Africa to score in the history of the Saudi Pro League, after leading his team to a valuable victory over their guest, Al-Khulood, with a score of 2-1, in the match held at the Ego Stadium in Dammam, as part of the first round of the Saudi Pro League "Roshen League." Mohao Nkota needed only 7 minutes to find the back of the net, before Al-Khulood equalized in the 36th minute through John Buckley. In the second half, Al-Ettifaq sealed the match with a second goal scored by Georginio Wijnaldum in the 61st minute, granting his team their first 3 points in their new season journey.
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Pro League has witnessed the participation of players from several African countries throughout its history; however, South Africa had not made a scoring presence until Mohao Nkota achieved this historic feat.
