شهد اللقاء بداية قوية لفريق الاتفاق وتمكن من خلالها من إحراز الهدف الأول مبكراً بعد انطلاقة من لاعبه راضي العتيبي الذي لعب كرة عرضية أبعدها الدفاع لتصل إلى لاعب الاتفاق موهاو نكوتا ويسددها أرضية في مرمى الخلود كهدف اتفاقي أول (د: 7)، لينشط أداء الخلود بحثاً عن إدراك التعادل وتمكن من ذلك بعد مجهود فردي من ميزياني ماوليدا الذي انطلق من الجهة اليسرى وتوغل لداخل منطقة الجزاء ولعب كرة عرضية ليلعبها جون باكلي برأسه داخل الشباك كهدف أول وتعادل للخلود (د: 36)، وفي الشوط الثاني عاد الاتفاق مجدداً للتقدم بعد تمريرة ذكية من الفارو ميدران لزميله خالد الغنام المنطلق من الجهة اليسرى والذي بدوره لعبها عرضية أمام المرمى ليسكنها جورجينيو فينالدوم في المرمى كهدف ثانٍ للاتفاق (د: 61)، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز الاتفاق بهدفين لهدف.
وبهذه النتيجة يحقق الاتفاق الفوز الأول له ويحصد النقاط الثلاث، وسيلتقي في الجولة القادمة مع ضيفه الأهلي، فيما بقي فريق الخلود بدون نقاط بعد أن تلقى الخسارة الأولى له في الدوري، وسيواجه الخلود في الجولة القادمة مضيفه النصر.

Al-Khulood then intensified their performance in search of an equalizer and managed to achieve that after an individual effort from Mizyani Maulida, who surged from the left side, penetrated the penalty area, and delivered a cross that John Buckley headed into the net for Al-Khulood's first goal and equalizer (36’). In the second half, Al-Ettifaq regained the lead after a clever pass from Alvaro Medran to his teammate Khalid Al-Ghannam, who was advancing from the left side, and he delivered a cross in front of the goal for Georginio Wijnaldum to slot it into the net for Al-Ettifaq's second goal (61’), ending the match with Al-Ettifaq winning two goals to one.
