اقترب منتخب النرويج من التأهل التاريخي الرابع لكأس العالم بعد فوزه القوي على إسرائيل بخمسة أهداف دون مقابل، في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على ملعب وليفال ستاديوم ضمن لقاءات الجولة السادسة للمجموعة التاسعة للتصفيات الأوروبية المؤهلة لكأس العالم 2026.
أحرز أهداف النرويج ايرلينغ هالاند («هاتريك» 27د:، 63، 72) وعنان خلايلي (هدف عكسي د:18) وعيدان نحمياس (هدف عكسي د:28).

الجدير بالذكر أن نظام التأهل في قارة أوروبا في الدور الأول يتكون من 12 مجموعة تضم كل منها أربعة أو خمسة فرق، ويتأهل متصدرو المجموعات إلى كأس العالم. بعد ذلك، سيتم حسم المقاعد الأربعة المتبقية للقارة في التصفيات الأوروبية التي تضم 16 فريقاً، وتتألف من الفرق الـ12 التي احتلت المركز الثاني في مجموعاتها، إضافة إلى أفضل أربعة فرق متصدرة في دوري الأمم الأوروبية.

The Norway national team is close to a historic fourth qualification for the World Cup after their strong victory over Israel with five goals to none, in the match held at the Ullevaal Stadium as part of the sixth round of Group 9 in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
