حذر رئيس أركان الجيش الإسرائيلي إيال زامير وقائد القيادة المركزية آفي بلوث، رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو ووزير الدفاع يسرائيل كاتس من أن عنف المتطرفين الإسرائيليين في الضفة الغربية المحتلة يشتت جهود الجيش ويهدد بخروج الأوضاع عن السيطرة.
وأعرب زامير وبلوث عن قلقهما من الاهتمام المتزايد بهذه الحوادث في الولايات المتحدة وما تسببه من ضغوط إضافية على إسرائيل.
وحسب صحيفة «يديعوت أحرونوت»، أبلغ زامير وبلوث القيادة السياسية، مساء الإثنين، أن الضفة الغربية «على وشك الانفجار» بسبب ما وصفاه بـ«الجرائم القومية»، محذرين من أن تزايد هذه الحوادث يشتت جهود الجيش.
وخلال اجتماع عُقد بصورة مفاجئة في مقر القيادة المركزية، بحضور نتنياهو وكاتس، عرض قادة الجيش بيانات تُظهر ارتفاعاً ملحوظاً في الجرائم التي يرتكبها المتطرفون الإسرائيليون.
وقال بلوث إن«الجريمة القومية تشبه عود الثقاب الذي يُشعل كل شيء في لحظة، محذراً من أن جهود الجيش الإسرائيلي باتت منصبة باستمرار على التعامل مع هذه الحوادث.
وأشارت»يديعوت أحرونوت«إلى أن نتنياهو طلب من رئيس الأركان توضيح خطة الجيش في حال اندلاع أعمال عنف في الضفة الغربية، فرد زامير:»لم نكن مستعدين لمناقشة هذا الأمر«.
وتصاعدت عمليات التحريض ضد كبار القادة العسكريين في الأيام الأخيرة، بالتزامن مع إخلاء بؤر استيطانية غير قانونية، وكان من بين المستهدفين بلوث وقائد فرقة الضفة الغربية كوبي هيلر.
وأصبح القائدان هدفاً لجماعات تتهمهما بالتنسيق مع السلطة الفلسطينية، رغم أن عمليات الإخلاء نُفذت بتوجيهات من الحكومة الإسرائيلية، بحسب الصحيفة.
وتشعر القيادة العليا للجيش الإسرائيلي بقلق بالغ إزاء حوادث»الجرائم القومية«، التي تحظى باهتمام كبير في الولايات المتحدة وتفرض ضغوطاً أمريكية إضافية على تل أبيب.
وكان ضباط كبار، حذروا الأحد الماضي، من أن الضفة تخرج عن السيطرة، فيما حذر مسؤولون أمنيون القيادة السياسية من أن الوضع»على وشك الانفجار«بسبب تزايد الحوادث التي يرتكبها مثيرو شغب متطرفون.
وقال مسؤول كبير للصحيفة إن الجيش الإسرائيلي ينفذ مهام كثيرة تتعلق بالمستوطنات، تشمل فتح الطرق وإنشاء التجمعات السكنية وتخصيص مناطق للسكان، وفقاً لتوجيهات القيادة السياسية، دون تأخير أو تعطيل. لكن الجيش يعمل بأقصى طاقته في الضفة الغربية، ويضطر في الوقت نفسه إلى التعامل مع حوادث متزايدة تشتت جهوده وتزداد جرأة، يبدو أن أحداً لا يدرك حقيقة ما يجري هنا وإلى أين قد يقود هذا الوضع».
The Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, and the commander of the Central Command, Avi Bluth, warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz that the violence of Israeli extremists in the occupied West Bank is distracting the army's efforts and threatening to spiral out of control.
Zamir and Bluth expressed their concern about the increasing attention to these incidents in the United States and the additional pressure it places on Israel.
According to the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth," Zamir and Bluth informed the political leadership on Monday evening that the West Bank is "on the verge of explosion" due to what they described as "national crimes," warning that the increase in these incidents is distracting the army's efforts.
During a surprise meeting held at the Central Command headquarters, attended by Netanyahu and Katz, army leaders presented data showing a significant rise in crimes committed by Israeli extremists.
Bluth stated that "national crime is like a match that ignites everything in an instant," warning that the Israeli army's efforts are constantly focused on dealing with these incidents.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Netanyahu asked the Chief of Staff to clarify the army's plan in the event of violence erupting in the West Bank, to which Zamir responded: "We were not prepared to discuss this matter."
Incitement against senior military leaders has escalated in recent days, coinciding with the evacuation of illegal settlement outposts, with Bluth and West Bank Division Commander Kobi Heller among those targeted.
The two commanders have become targets for groups accusing them of coordinating with the Palestinian Authority, even though the evacuations were carried out under instructions from the Israeli government, according to the newspaper.
The senior leadership of the Israeli army feels deep concern regarding incidents of "national crimes," which are receiving significant attention in the United States and imposing additional American pressure on Tel Aviv.
Senior officers warned last Sunday that the West Bank is spiraling out of control, while security officials cautioned the political leadership that the situation is "on the verge of explosion" due to the increasing incidents committed by extremist rioters.
A senior official told the newspaper that the Israeli army is carrying out many tasks related to settlements, including opening roads, establishing residential areas, and allocating zones for residents, according to the directives of the political leadership, without delay or disruption. However, the army is operating at full capacity in the West Bank and is simultaneously forced to deal with increasing incidents that distract its efforts and are becoming bolder, with no one seeming to grasp the reality of what is happening here and where this situation may lead.
