هددت الولايات المتحدة بوقف تبادل المعلومات الاستخباراتية مع المملكة المتحدة، عقب إسقاط التهم الموجهة ضد بريطانيين في قضية تجسس مزعومة لصالح الصين، وفقاً لما ذكرته صحيفة التايمز نقلاً عن مصدر في الإدارة الأمريكية.
وأضافت الصحيفة أن «البيت الأبيض» حذّر رئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر من أن عدم مقاضاة جاسوسين صينيين مزعومين يُهدد بتقويض العلاقة الخاصة، وقد يُعرّض تبادل المعلومات الاستخباراتية بين بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة للخطر.
The United States has threatened to halt intelligence-sharing with the United Kingdom following the dropping of charges against British individuals in an alleged spying case for China, according to The Times, citing a source in the U.S. administration.
The newspaper added that the "White House" warned British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that failing to prosecute alleged Chinese spies threatens to undermine the special relationship and could jeopardize intelligence-sharing between Britain and the United States.
