أرسل الرئيس دونالد ترمب، السبت، تهديدًا إلى حاكم ولاية إلينوي جيه بي بريتزكر، في إشارة إلى الجريمة الأخيرة التي وقعت في شيكاغو.
وأشار الرئيس الأمريكي إلى أن شيكاغو ستكون المدينة التالية التي سيستهدفها بعد سيطرة إدارته الفيدرالية على واشنطن العاصمة.
وحذّر ترمب بريتزكر في منشور على منصته «تروث سوشال» للتواصل الاجتماعي، بقوله: «من الأفضل أن تصحح الأمر بسرعة، وإلا فإننا قادمون».
وكتب ترمب: «قُتل 6 أشخاص، وأُصيب 24 آخرون بالرصاص في شيكاغو، نهاية الأسبوع الماضي، وصرّح جيه بي بريتزكر حاكم إلينوي الضعيف والمثير للشفقة، بأنه لا يحتاج إلى مساعدة على منع الجريمة».
وأضاف الرئيس الأمريكي: «إنه مجنون! عليه أن يُصلح الوضع بسرعة، وإلا فنحن قادمون».
يذكر أن ترمب أمر قبل أسابيع بنشر الحرس الوطني في العاصمة واشنطن في إطار جهوده لمكافحة الجريمة، ولاحقًا أمر وزارة الداخلية بالسماح لعناصر الحرس الوطني بحمل السلاح.
وكانت صحيفة «واشنطن بوست»، كشفت يوم الأحد، أن وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية «البنتاغون» تعتزم نشر عسكريين في شيكاغو بناء على خطط الرئيس دونالد ترمب.
وأضافت الصحيفة أن الخطة، التي يجري العمل عليها، منذ أسابيع، تتضمن عدة خيارات، منها: تعبئة ما لا يقل عن بضعة آلاف من أفراد الحرس الوطني اعتبارًا من سبتمبر.
President Donald Trump sent a threat on Saturday to Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, referring to the recent crime that occurred in Chicago.
The American president indicated that Chicago would be the next city targeted after his federal administration took control of Washington, D.C.
Trump warned Pritzker in a post on his social media platform "Truth Social," saying, "You better fix this quickly, or we are coming."
Trump wrote: "6 people were killed, and 24 others were shot in Chicago last weekend, and J.B. Pritzker, the weak and pathetic governor of Illinois, stated that he does not need help to prevent crime."
The American president added: "It's crazy! He needs to fix the situation quickly, or we are coming."
It is noteworthy that Trump ordered the National Guard to be deployed in Washington, D.C. weeks ago as part of his efforts to combat crime, and later ordered the Department of the Interior to allow National Guard members to carry weapons.
The Washington Post revealed on Sunday that the U.S. Department of Defense "the Pentagon" intends to deploy military personnel in Chicago based on President Donald Trump's plans.
The newspaper added that the plan, which has been in the works for weeks, includes several options, including mobilizing at least a few thousand National Guard members starting in September.
