The governor of Darfur region, Mini Arko Minawi, announced the liberation of the Sudanese army of the Atrun area in the northern desert of Darfur. He stated in a post on his official Facebook account today (Sunday) that the military operation was precise and coordinated between the joint forces and the Sudanese army, confirming that the Rapid Support Forces suffered heavy losses in lives and equipment.

Minawi reiterated that "victory is imminent, and we will celebrate in every street, and we will inform our people in Darfur about it."

For its part, the emergency room of the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons in Al-Fasher announced the death of 14 people in artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces on the Negevasha market in the camp.

The Rescue Organization reported that at least 14 members of one family were killed in an airstrike on a displaced persons camp in Darfur, blaming the Rapid Support Forces.

The organization, which includes volunteers in the field of relief, added that the Abu Shouk camp, located near Al-Fasher, was subjected to intense shelling by the Rapid Support Forces on Friday evening.

For her part, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nkweta Salami, warned that the situation in the "Abu Shouk and Zamzam" camps for displaced persons in northern Darfur is "catastrophic," confirming that civilians are now trapped. The UN official urgently called for a ceasefire and humanitarian calm to deliver aid.

The city of Al-Fasher holds strategic importance in the war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, as it is the only major city in the vast Darfur region that remains outside the control of the Rapid Support Forces.
