As part of a security operation launched by the Syrian security forces to pursue ISIS cells in Aleppo Governorate, the spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Nour al-Din al-Baba, announced today (Saturday) the killing of 3 members of the terrorist organization "ISIS" and the arrest of 4 others during a wide-ranging raid in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo, confirming the death of two members of the public security forces in the operation.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior had announced the end of the security operation in Aleppo, clarifying in a statement that the operation was conducted in cooperation between the public security administration and the general intelligence agency, targeting a hideout of a terrorist cell belonging to the ISIS organization, consisting of seven members. However, Syrian sources indicated that the campaign uncovered more hideouts belonging to the terrorist organization.

The ministry vowed to continue its security operations against ISIS cells to monitor and prevent any terrorist activity and to persist in its diligent efforts to ensure security and stability in all areas within Syrian territory.

Eyewitnesses reported that violent clashes erupted this afternoon with armed members of ISIS inside the neighborhoods of Al-Haidariyah and Karam al-Jazmati in eastern Aleppo, following the armed men opening fire on public security patrols.

Witnesses noted that the security forces' movement received widespread public support, although the clashes caused chaos and panic among the civilians residing in the neighborhood. However, the public security administration brought in significant military reinforcements that included personnel, heavy vehicles, and armored vehicles, which effectively tightened the security cordon and closed in on the cell members to eliminate them.

Witnesses reported that one of the organization's members detonated himself during the clashes, resulting in the death of one public security member and injuries to others with varying degrees of wounds, after the public security patrols imposed a security cordon around the Al-Haidariyah neighborhood, before beginning to carry out a security campaign targeting a specific location within the neighborhood.

Witnesses indicated that the security cordon coincided with another around the adjacent Karam al-Jazmati neighborhood, along with intensified patrols and mobile checkpoints in other nearby neighborhoods.

This operation is the first that the Syrian Ministry of Interior has undertaken against the terrorist organization "ISIS" since the fall of the Assad regime on December 8 of last year, and is part of efforts aimed at enforcing security and eliminating any security imbalances in the country.
