بدعوة من وزير الصحة فهد الجلاجل، عُقد لقاء ثنائي بين وزير الصحة في باكستان مصطفى كمال ووزير الصحة في أفغانستان مولوي نور جلال جلالي.
وجرى خلال اللقاء المشترك، الذي انعقد على هامش ملتقى الصحة العالمي بالرياض، مناقشة تعزيز جهود القضاء على شلل الأطفال في المناطق الأكثر تأثراً، إلى جانب أهمية تعاون الطرفين في جميع ما يعزز الصحة وتذليل الصعوبات التي تواجه حملة القضاء على شلل الأطفال، وذلك بحضور مديرة منظمة الصحة العالمية في إقليم شرق المتوسط الدكتورة حنان بلخي، ونائب رئيس التنمية الدولية في مؤسسة غيتس وميليندا الخيرية كريس إلياس.
من جانبهما، أعرب الوزيران الباكستاني والأفغاني عن شكرهما للمملكة على استضافة الاجتماع، وعلى دورها الريادي في دعم أجندة الصحة العالمية، مؤكدين التزام بلديهما بمواصلة الجهود المشتركة لاستئصال شلل الأطفال، وتعزيز التنسيق والمواءمة في حملات التطعيم المستقبلية، والحملات التوعوية لتعزيز الإقبال على التطعيم في المناطق عالية الخطورة وتوسيع دمج لقاحات شلل الأطفال ضمن برامج التحصين.
من ناحيته، أكد الوزير الجلاجل، أن المملكة مستمرة في دعم الجهود للقضاء على شلل الأطفال عالمياً.
At the invitation of the Minister of Health, Fahd Al-Jalajel, a bilateral meeting was held between the Minister of Health of Pakistan, Mustafa Kamal, and the Minister of Health of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali.
During the joint meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Global Health Forum in Riyadh, discussions focused on enhancing efforts to eradicate polio in the most affected areas, as well as the importance of cooperation between the two parties in all matters that promote health and overcome the challenges facing the polio eradication campaign. This was attended by the Director of the World Health Organization in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Dr. Hanan Balkhy, and the Vice President of International Development at the Gates and Melinda Foundation, Chris Elias.
For their part, the Pakistani and Afghan ministers expressed their gratitude to the Kingdom for hosting the meeting and for its leading role in supporting the global health agenda, affirming their countries' commitment to continue joint efforts to eradicate polio, enhance coordination and alignment in future vaccination campaigns, and awareness campaigns to promote vaccination uptake in high-risk areas, as well as expand the integration of polio vaccines into immunization programs.
For his part, Minister Al-Jalajel confirmed that the Kingdom continues to support global efforts to eradicate polio.
