The Council of the Arab League at the level of Foreign Ministers, at the conclusion of its regular session (164) held under the presidency of the UAE, reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to supporting Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability, emphasizing the importance of enhancing joint Arab action to assist Syria in facing political, security, and economic challenges, which contributes to achieving security and stability in the region.
The Council stressed, in its resolution, the commitment to maintaining Syria's sovereignty, independence, and the unity and integrity of its territory, rejecting any attempts to undermine its rights or compromise its national security, affirming that joint Arab efforts continue to support Syria and its people in facing various challenges.
The Council strongly condemned the repeated Israeli assaults on Syrian territory, considering these practices a blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. It called on the international community to take a firm stance to stop these ongoing assaults and protect regional security.
The Council renewed its commitment to the complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan up to the line of June 4, 1967, affirming that the Golan is occupied Syrian land, and that Israel's decision to annex it is null and void and has no legal effect, calling on the occupying authorities to stop all violations affecting the rights of Syrian citizens in their occupied territories.
The Ministerial Council affirmed its support for the Syrian government in its efforts to combat terrorism and protect national security, reiterating its full support for the efforts to rebuild Syria, calling on the international community to expedite support for comprehensive reconstruction plans; in a way that enhances its unity and full sovereignty over its territory, and contributes to creating the necessary conditions for the safe return of Syrian refugees to their homes.
The Council praised the results of regional and international consultations regarding the Syrian situation, emphasizing the importance of supporting UN efforts in assisting the Syrian government, and welcomed the outcomes of the tripartite Arab talks between Jordan, Syria, and the United States. It commended the regional understandings aimed at reducing security tensions and protecting the unity of Syrian territory, and the Arab League Council noted the importance of providing urgent humanitarian support to the Syrian people, and the necessity of an immediate response to the needs of those affected by crises and conflicts, stressing the coordination between donor countries and regional and international organizations; in a way that ensures the delivery of aid to those who deserve it.
