شاركت الهيئة السعودية للملكية الفكرية في اجتماع جمعيات الدول الأعضاء في المنظمة العالمية للملكية الفكرية المنعقدة في مدينة جنيف، التي شهدت انتخاب المملكة لرئاسة عدد من الجمعيات واللجان الدولية في خطوة تعكس مكانتها الريادية وثقة المجتمع الدولي في دورها الفاعل بمجال الملكية الفكرية.
حيث تم انتخاب نائب الرئيس التنفيذي للشؤون المؤسسية المهندس سامي بن علي السديس رئيساً لجمعية اتحاد برن، المعنية بحماية المصنفات الأدبية والفنية وحقوق مؤلفيها، والتي تتيح للمبدعين التحكم في طريقة استخدام مصنفاتهم وشروط استغلالها، كما تم انتخاب نائب الرئيس التنفيذي للموارد المؤسسية الأستاذ فواز بن عيسى المبلّع لرئاسة جمعية اتحاد نيس، الذي يختص بوضع نظام تصنيف دولي للعلامات التجارية يُستخدم كأداة مرجعية موحدة في جميع الدول الأعضاء في الويبو.
إضافة إلى انتخاب المدير التنفيذي للشراكات والتعاون الدولي في الهيئة الأستاذ هشام بن سعد العريفي رئيساً للجنة التنفيذية لجمعية اتحاد برن، التي تعد إحدى اللجان الرئيسية ضمن هيكل منظمة الويبو، وتختص بمتابعة وتنفيذ التزامات الدول الأعضاء في اتفاقية بيرن لحماية المصنفات الأدبية والفنية، وانتخاب المدير التنفيذي للبراءات الأستاذ مزعل بن مطلق الحربي نائباً لرئيس جمعية اتحاد تصنيف براءات الاختراع، وهي الجمعية التي تُعنى بتطوير وتحديث التصنيف الدولي للبراءات لضمان توافقه مع التطورات التقنية والابتكارية.
كما تواصل المملكة دورها الفاعل في المنظمة عبر ترشيحها لعضوية لجنة التنسيق، التي تُعنى بمهمات رئيسية في المنظمة تشمل تعيين المدير العام القادم للمنظمة، إلى جانب متابعة أعمالها الاستراتيجية في دعم الحوكمة وتعزيز فعالية المنظمة، كما تمت إعادة ترشيح المملكة لعضوية لجنة البرنامج والميزانية وهي لجنة أنشأتها الجمعية العامة للويبو للنظر في مسائل البرنامج والميزانية والمباني والشؤون المالية.
ويعزز انتخاب المملكة لهذه الجمعيات واللجان مكانتها كشريك دولي موثوق ومؤثر في تطوير منظومة الملكية الفكرية، كما يدعم طموحاتها لأن تكون مركزاً عالمياً للابتكار والإبداع، بما يسهم في بناء اقتصاد معرفي مستدام يخدم المبدعين محلياً ودولياً.
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property participated in the meeting of the member states' associations of the World Intellectual Property Organization held in Geneva, where the Kingdom was elected to chair several associations and international committees in a move that reflects its leading position and the international community's trust in its active role in the field of intellectual property.
The Executive Vice President for Institutional Affairs, Engineer Sami bin Ali Al-Sudais, was elected as the President of the Bern Union Association, which is concerned with the protection of literary and artistic works and the rights of their authors, allowing creators to control how their works are used and the conditions for their exploitation. Additionally, the Executive Vice President for Institutional Resources, Mr. Fawaz bin Isa Al-Muballagh, was elected to chair the Nice Union Association, which specializes in establishing an international classification system for trademarks used as a unified reference tool in all member states of WIPO.
Furthermore, the Executive Director for Partnerships and International Cooperation at the Authority, Mr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Arefi, was elected as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Bern Union Association, which is one of the main committees within the WIPO structure, responsible for monitoring and implementing the commitments of member states under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works. The Executive Director for Patents, Mr. Mazal bin Mutlaq Al-Harbi, was elected as the Vice President of the Patent Classification Union Association, which is concerned with developing and updating the international classification of patents to ensure its alignment with technological and innovative developments.
The Kingdom continues its active role in the organization by nominating itself for membership in the Coordination Committee, which is responsible for key tasks in the organization, including appointing the next Director General of the organization, in addition to following up on its strategic work in supporting governance and enhancing the effectiveness of the organization. The Kingdom was also re-nominated for membership in the Program and Budget Committee, which was established by the WIPO General Assembly to consider program and budget matters, as well as building and financial affairs.
The election of the Kingdom to these associations and committees reinforces its position as a reliable and influential international partner in developing the intellectual property system, while also supporting its ambitions to be a global center for innovation and creativity, contributing to building a sustainable knowledge-based economy that serves creators locally and internationally.
