The city of Medina is bidding farewell to the guests of Allah through Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport during these days, after they have performed the rituals of Hajj this year and visited the city of the Prophet, peace be upon him, with ease and safety.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the start of the Umrah season for the Hijri year 1447, with the opening of the issuance of Umrah visas for those wishing to come from outside the Kingdom; signaling the beginning of a new season that continues the journey of facilitating the guests of Allah and achieving the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The ministry confirmed that the issuance of Umrah permits for pilgrims from outside the Kingdom is done through the (Nusuk) application, and the relevant authorities are implementing a program aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of guests of Allah from their accommodations to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina, under the supervision of the Hajj and Umrah Committee in the region and the relevant authorities. Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport emphasized in a statement the necessity for travelers to communicate directly with the concerned airlines before heading to the airport to know the countries affected by airspace closures. Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport serves as the air gateway to reach the Prophet's Mosque and is a major air outlet for receiving visitors, with a current capacity of eight million passengers annually. Last March, Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Emir of Medina Region, inaugurated the second phase of the airport development and expansion project; which aims to raise the airport's capacity by the end of 2027 to 17 million passengers at a cost of up to 1.2 billion riyals. The project works included expanding the passenger terminal and designating it for international flights, increasing the capacity to 12 million passengers annually, in addition to constructing a new passenger terminal for domestic flights with a capacity of 3.5 million passengers annually, and renovating the old passenger terminal to provide a backup capacity for international flights estimated at 1.5 million passengers annually, along with the establishment of an administrative office building for the entities operating at the airport.
