Jeddah Historical celebrated the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which falls on October 17 each year, by highlighting its living cultural heritage and shedding light on the traditional arts, crafts, and social practices that have been passed down through generations, contributing to the formation of its cultural identity, as one of the forms of intangible cultural heritage. Intangible cultural heritage includes practices, knowledge, skills, and forms of expression that are transmitted across generations and continuously renewed to remain present in the lives of communities. Jeddah Historical is rich in various fields of intangible cultural heritage, most notably traditions and forms of oral expression, arts and traditions of performance, social practices, rituals, and celebrations, as well as knowledge and practices related to nature and the universe, alongside skills associated with traditional crafts. This diversity reflects the role of Jeddah Historical over the centuries as a crossroads of cultures, which has contributed to enriching its cultural and social heritage and solidifying its status as a site of living heritage. The celebration of this occasion is an extension of the efforts of the Ministry of Culture through the project to revive Jeddah Historical, aimed at preserving both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, maintaining the practices and traditions passed down through generations, and establishing Jeddah Historical's status as a center for culture and creativity and a global heritage destination, in line with the objectives of the National Culture Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
