حقق المنتخب السعودي للمعلوماتية 3 جوائز دولية في النسخة الـ38 من أولمبياد المعلوماتية الدولي (IOI 2026)، الذي تستضيفه أوزبكستان خلال الفترة من 9 إلى 16 أغسطس الجاري، بمشاركة 386 طالباً وطالبة يمثلون 97 دولة.
وحصد الطالب محمد ناصر الأسمري من إدارة التعليم بالهيئة الملكية بالجبيل الميدالية الفضية، مسجلاً أول ميدالية فضية للمملكة في تاريخ مشاركاتها في أولمبياد المعلوماتية الدولي، فيما حقق الطالب سلطان عبدالرحمن العيبان من الإدارة العامة للتعليم بمنطقة الرياض الميدالية البرونزية، ونال الطالب سعد بندر العريفي من الإدارة العامة للتعليم بمنطقة الرياض شهادة تقدير.
ومثّل المملكة في الأولمبياد 4 طلاب من المرحلة الثانوية، جرى تدريبهم وتأهيلهم بإشراف مؤسسة الملك عبدالعزيز ورجاله للموهبة والإبداع «موهبة»، بالشراكة الإستراتيجية مع وزارة التعليم، ضمن برنامج موهبة للأولمبيادات الدولية، وبرعاية تطوير التعليم القابضة.
ورفع المنتخب السعودي بهذا الإنجاز رصيد المملكة في تاريخ مشاركاتها في أولمبياد المعلوماتية الدولي إلى 14 جائزة دولية، بواقع ميدالية فضية، و8 ميداليات برونزية، و5 شهادات تقدير.
وتُعد الميدالية الفضية التي حققها الطالب محمد الأسمري إنجازاً تاريخياً للمملكة في المسابقة، إذ تعد الأولى من نوعها منذ بدء مشاركاتها في الأولمبياد، مواصلة بذلك تطور نتائج المنتخب السعودي في المنافسة الدولية، بعد أن حقق في نسخة العام الماضي ميدالية برونزية وشهادتي تقدير.
وخضع أعضاء المنتخب السعودي قبل المشاركة لرحلة تدريبية وتأهيلية متكاملة، تضمنت سلسلة من المعسكرات التدريبية المكثفة والمسابقات الترشيحية ومسابقات المحاكاة، بهدف تطوير مهاراتهم في حل المشكلات وبناء الإستراتيجيات، وصولًا إلى اختيار أعضاء المنتخب المشارك في الأولمبياد.
ويُعد أولمبياد المعلوماتية الدولي، الذي انطلقت نسخته الأولى عام 1989، إحدى أعرق المسابقات العلمية الدولية في مجال علوم الحاسب، ويتنافس المشاركون فيه بصورة فردية في حل مسائل تتطلب مهارات متقدمة في تحليل المشكلات وتصميم الخوارزميات وهياكل البيانات والبرمجة واختبار الحلول والتحقق من صحتها.
The Saudi Information Technology team achieved 3 international awards in the 38th edition of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026), which is hosted by Uzbekistan from August 9 to 16, with the participation of 386 students representing 97 countries.
Student Mohammed Nasser Al-Asmeri from the Royal Commission for Jubail Education won the silver medal, marking the first silver medal for the Kingdom in its history of participation in the International Olympiad in Informatics, while student Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Aiban from the General Administration of Education in Riyadh won the bronze medal, and student Saad Bandar Al-Areifi from the General Administration of Education in Riyadh received a certificate of appreciation.
Four high school students represented the Kingdom in the Olympiad, having been trained and prepared under the supervision of the King Abdulaziz and His Men Foundation for Talent and Creativity "Mawhiba," in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, as part of the Mawhiba program for international Olympiads, and under the sponsorship of the Education Development Holding Company.
With this achievement, the Saudi team has raised the Kingdom's total in its history of participation in the International Olympiad in Informatics to 14 international awards, consisting of 1 silver medal, 8 bronze medals, and 5 certificates of appreciation.
The silver medal achieved by student Mohammed Al-Asmeri is a historic achievement for the Kingdom in the competition, as it is the first of its kind since the beginning of its participation in the Olympiad, continuing the development of the Saudi team's results in international competition, after winning a bronze medal and two certificates of appreciation in last year's edition.
Before participating, the members of the Saudi team underwent a comprehensive training and qualification journey, which included a series of intensive training camps, qualifying competitions, and simulation contests, aimed at developing their problem-solving skills and strategy building, leading to the selection of the team members participating in the Olympiad.
The International Olympiad in Informatics, which launched its first edition in 1989, is one of the most prestigious international scientific competitions in the field of computer science, where participants compete individually to solve problems that require advanced skills in problem analysis, algorithm design, data structures, programming, testing solutions, and verifying their correctness.
