أفادت السلطات البلجيكية اليوم أن حريقاً سريع الانتشار في متنزه فاني الطبيعي شرقي البلاد، بالقرب من الحدود مع ألمانيا، التهم ما لا يقل عن 1600 هكتار من الغابات منذ اندلاعه أمس.
وأوضح المتحدث باسم السلطات المحلية في إقليم والونيا نيكولا ييرنو أن سكان قرية سوربرودت القريبة، التي يقطنها نحو 500 شخص، يواجهون خطر إخلاء منازلهم بسبب الدخان واحتمال وصول النيران إلى المناطق السكنية، مشيراً إلى أن السلطات تبحث إصدار أمر بالإخلاء.
وأضاف أن فرق إطفاء من مختلف أنحاء بلجيكا وألمانيا تشارك في مكافحة الحريق، الذي اتسع نطاقه بشكل كبير خلال الليل، إلى جانب استخدام طائرات ومروحيات إطفاء ضمن آلية الحماية المدنية التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي.
Belgian authorities reported today that a rapidly spreading fire in the Fagne Nature Park in the east of the country, near the border with Germany, has consumed at least 1,600 hectares of forest since it broke out yesterday.
The spokesperson for the local authorities in the Walloon region, Nicolas Yernaux, explained that residents of the nearby village of Sorbrodt, which has about 500 inhabitants, are facing the risk of evacuation due to smoke and the possibility of the flames reaching residential areas, noting that authorities are considering issuing an evacuation order.
He added that firefighting teams from various parts of Belgium and Germany are participating in combating the fire, which has significantly expanded overnight, along with the use of firefighting planes and helicopters as part of the European Union's civil protection mechanism.
