According to the National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia, the climate forecasts associated with the development of the "El Niño" phenomenon indicate a likelihood of recording temperatures higher than the normal average until next September during the summer, with increased risks of heat stress and a rise in demand for electrical energy. The center advises the importance of early planning and taking preventive measures.
The expected thermal rise and "warming" waves will affect various regions of Saudi Arabia in August, October, September, and until November. The meteorological authority advises everyone to follow the official weather forecasts and continuously monitor the reports issued by the center, due to the uncertainty associated with the predictions of the El Niño phenomenon.
According to the information, the El Niño phenomenon is a natural climatic pattern that leads to an abnormal increase in sea surface temperatures and occurs periodically every two to seven years, lasting from nine to twelve months, during which the winds that usually blow from east to west weaken. The rise in temperatures affects marine life and halts the "bottom overturn" process that brings cold, nutrient-rich waters, resulting in fish mortality or migration. The National Center for Meteorology warns against circulating incorrect information about the "El Niño" phenomenon.
