أكدت المملكة أهمية توسيع التعاون الدولي وتعزيز الشراكات وتبادل الخبرات لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة، مشددة على أن التعاون فيما بين بلدان الجنوب والتعاون الثلاثي يمثلان ركيزة أساسية لبناء القدرات، ودعم الأولويات الوطنية ومواجهة التحديات العالمية، وفي مقدمتها الأمن المائي وتغير المناخ.
جاء ذلك، خلال مشاركة المندوب الدائم للمملكة لدى الأمم المتحدة السفير الدكتور عبدالعزيز الواصل، متحدثًا رئيسيًا في الفعالية الجانبية بعنوان «تعزيز أوجه التكامل لتسريع تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة من خلال التعاون فيما بين بلدان الجنوب والتعاون الثلاثي»، التي نظمها مكتب الأمم المتحدة للتعاون فيما بين بلدان الجنوب (UNOSSC)، على هامش المنتدى السياسي رفيع المستوى للتنمية المستدامة في نيويورك.
واستعرض السفير الواصل تجربة المملكة في تعزيز الأمن المائي والإدارة المستدامة للموارد المائية في إطار رؤية المملكة 2030، مشيرًا إلى دور المنظمة العالمية للمياه في تعزيز التعاون الدولي، وتبادل الخبرات، وبناء القدرات لمواجهة تحديات المياه.
ودعا إلى توسيع التعاون في مجالات إدارة الموارد المائية، والزراعة المستدامة، والطاقة المتجددة، وتعزيز القدرة على التكيف مع تغير المناخ، مؤكدًا أن مبادرة السعودية الخضراء وأجندة الرياض للعمل تمثلان منصتين لتعزيز التعاون الدولي وتبادل المعرفة والابتكار، ودعم جهود استصلاح الأراضي والعمل المناخي.
وشدد على أن تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة يتطلب توسيع الشراكات، وتعزيز القدرات الوطنية، والاستفادة من التجارب الناجحة بما يسهم في تحقيق أثر تنموي مستدام.
The Kingdom emphasized the importance of expanding international cooperation, enhancing partnerships, and exchanging experiences to achieve sustainable development goals, stressing that cooperation among South countries and trilateral cooperation represent a fundamental pillar for building capacities, supporting national priorities, and addressing global challenges, foremost among them water security and climate change.
This came during the participation of the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, as a keynote speaker at the side event titled "Enhancing Integration to Accelerate the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals through South-South Cooperation and Trilateral Cooperation," organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York.
Ambassador Al-Wasel reviewed the Kingdom's experience in enhancing water security and sustainable water resource management within the framework of Vision 2030, pointing to the role of the World Water Organization in promoting international cooperation, exchanging experiences, and building capacities to address water challenges.
He called for expanding cooperation in the fields of water resource management, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and enhancing resilience to climate change, emphasizing that the Saudi Green Initiative and the Riyadh Agenda for Action represent platforms to enhance international cooperation, exchange knowledge and innovation, and support efforts in land reclamation and climate action.
He stressed that achieving sustainable development goals requires expanding partnerships, enhancing national capacities, and benefiting from successful experiences to contribute to achieving a sustainable developmental impact.
