أعلن البنك الدولي اليوم (الثلاثاء) عن افتتاح مقر إقليمي جديد في مدينة الرياض، لخدمة منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا وأفغانستان وباكستان، ليكون مشتركاً مع مكتب مجموعة البنك الدولي لدول مجلس التعاون الخليجي في الرياض.
وأوضح البنك في بيان صحفي، أن المقر الإقليمي الجديد في الرياض يمثل خطوة بالغة الأهمية في تقريب قيادات البنك الدولي من فرق العمل القُطرية والبلدان والشركاء الإقليميين.
وأضاف أنه مع انتقال نائب رئيس مجموعة البنك الدولي لشؤون منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا وأفغانستان وباكستان، ومديري قطاعات الممارسات الإقليمية إلى الرياض، ستبدأ مرحلة جديدة من أنشطة وعمليات وبرامج البنك الدولي التي سيكون لها أكبر الأثر في المنطقة.
ووقّع المركز الوطني للتنافسية، في ديسمبر 2024، اتفاقية استراتيجية مع مجموعة البنك الدولي لإنشاء مركز عالمي للمعرفة في مبادرة رائدة لتعزيز التعاون الدولي، ودفع عجلة التنمية المستدامة من خلال تبادل الخبرات والرؤى التي تستند إلى خبرة المملكة في تنفيذ الإصلاحات الاقتصادية، وعلى خبرات البنك الدولي بما يسهم في دعم الدول الأعضاء ومساعدتها على تحقيق أهدافها التنموية.

The World Bank announced today (Tuesday) the opening of a new regional headquarters in Riyadh, to serve the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, to be shared with the World Bank Group's office for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Riyadh.
The bank clarified in a press release that the new regional headquarters in Riyadh represents a significant step in bringing World Bank leadership closer to country teams, countries, and regional partners.
It added that with the relocation of the Vice President of the World Bank Group for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, along with the directors of regional practice sectors to Riyadh, a new phase of World Bank activities, operations, and programs will begin, which will have the greatest impact in the region.
In December 2024, the National Competitiveness Center signed a strategic agreement with the World Bank Group to establish a global knowledge center in a pioneering initiative to enhance international cooperation and drive sustainable development through the exchange of experiences and insights based on the Kingdom's expertise in implementing economic reforms, and on the World Bank's expertise, which contributes to supporting member countries and helping them achieve their development goals.
