Our country is keen on creating a safe educational environment, which is why there has been a qualitative shift in equipping school buildings with the latest safety systems (such as: fire extinguishing and alarm systems). The Ministry of Education is continuously monitoring the implementation of its requirements. However, the presence of these systems alone is not enough; no matter how high the quality of the equipment, there is a need for real training on how to use them correctly and safely. Many students and teachers have not received practical training on how to use fire extinguishers, how to act when a fire alarm goes off, or how to evacuate through emergency exits.

Various media outlets have unfortunately reported that in some schools, emergency doors are locked, which poses a direct danger to the safety of those inside in case of any emergency. This necessitates dedicating a safety day in the first week of the school year as a necessary precautionary step to enhance the culture of preventive awareness.

There are several foundations for school safety awareness, the most prominent of which are:

First: Practical introduction on how to use fire extinguishers.

Second: Explanation of alarm systems and the proper actions to take when they are activated.

Third: Conducting actual evacuation drills to ensure the readiness of students and teachers.

Fourth: Raising awareness about the dangers of electricity and exposed wires.

Fifth: Organizing workshops on first aid in collaboration with the Red Crescent Authority.

Such initiatives will not only enhance the level of preparedness but will also contribute to building a generation that is aware of safety, understanding the importance of prevention and proper actions during emergencies.
