Not all eyes are capable of seeing beauty, and not all souls are qualified to perceive the value of homelands.
Some see the flower, smell its fragrance, enjoy its colors, and understand what it holds of the beauty of life, while others see in existence only what satisfies their fleeting hunger, even if that is found in garbage.
Between these two perspectives lies the vast distance between a person who knows the value of what they possess and another who sells the most precious thing they have for a fleeting benefit and mirage, and between a principled individual who clings to their convictions and one who changes their positions whenever interests shift and prices rise.
The Argentine revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara is attributed with a saying that encapsulates this paradox: (If you can convince the fly that flowers are better than garbage, then you can convince the traitors that the homeland is more precious than money).
Regardless of the accuracy of this attribution, its meaning highlights one of the deepest crises of human conscience; the crisis of those whose personal interests overshadow their belonging, making material wealth in their calculations more valuable than dignity, and personal gains higher than loyalty to the land that embraced them and granted them opportunities for life.
It is not merely a comparison between flowers and garbage, but a symbolic representation of the difference between those who possess the ability to distinguish between the precious and the cheap.
And those who have surrendered their insight to immediate gain, becoming incapable of seeing the true value of things. Some people do not lack information about their homelands, but they lack the integrity to deal with that information, and they do not ignore the favor of the land they have lived on, but they place their interests above all considerations, then seek moral justifications to cover their choices.
Here begins the tragedy; when the homeland becomes a negotiable item, dignity turns into a commodity, and money becomes the sole criterion for judging positions and people.
The homeland, in its essence, is not a piece of soil bounded by geography, nor a flag fluttering over buildings, nor an anthem echoed at events. The homeland is the memory of humanity, a refuge in times of fear, a source of pride among nations, an extension of one's family and ancestors, and the right of future generations to a safe and dignified life.
It is the place where the features of identity are formed, dreams grow, and a person finds in belonging to it a meaning that transcends the limits of individual benefit.
And those who reduce these great meanings to a financial deal or personal benefit are diminishing themselves before they diminish the value of their homeland; money may buy positions and privileges, but it cannot buy an honorable history, a tranquil conscience, or genuine belonging.
The value of the homeland increases when it possesses the components of revival and stability, when it provides individuals with reasons for security, work, and progress, and when the efforts of its children unite to build a more prosperous future.
These meanings are clearly manifested in my homeland, Saudi Arabia, with its religious status, political and economic weight, vast capabilities, and influential international presence, alongside its connection to its land, history, and identity, in a mission that carries spiritual and civilizational dimensions that transcend geographical boundaries.
Security and stability are indispensable pillars for development, and trust between society and its institutions is a fundamental element for the continuation of progress, while national awareness serves as a shield against campaigns of misinformation and attempts to sow discord.
From here, the importance of preserving national unity, enhancing the spirit of shared responsibility, and establishing a culture of dialogue and action emerges, so that the achievements of development remain the foundation for a more prosperous and stable future.
The homeland remains more precious than any price, greater than any deal, and more enduring than any fleeting interest.
Those who know the value of their homelands do not sell them, and those who understand the meaning of loyalty are not swayed by temptations, and those who see Saudi Arabia as a homeland of security, dignity, and ambition realize that serving it is a responsibility, that preserving its gains is a duty, and that building its future is an honor worth striving for.
The problem is not that someone cannot see the flower, but that they know its beauty and then choose garbage in hopes of a fleeting gain; the homeland is too great to be a subject of bargaining, and too precious to become a pawn in the hands of opportunists; because it does not belong to a single generation, but is a trust passed down through generations, a dignity by which people live, and a future that deserves to be preserved and built with sincerity.
Saudi Arabia is a homeland distinguished by many attributes, and thus the homeland remains more valuable than money and interests, and serving it and being loyal to it is a hallmark of dignity and authenticity; all the sincere echo the words of Prince Mohammed bin Salman (Our ambition is to build a more prosperous homeland, where every citizen finds what they wish for, for the future of our homeland that we build together, we will accept nothing less than to make it among the leading countries in the world).
