The International Aquatics Federation "World Aquatics" has chosen Captain Amr Mubarak as a member of the technical committee for water polo in the international federation for the next four years. This trust from the highest authority in the sport of water polo is a recognition of his leading role in developing the sport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the ability of Saudi personnel to rise to international positions and excel whenever given the opportunity. Thus, Amr Mubarak is entitled to participate in technical meetings to develop the sport, supervise matches held under the umbrella of the international federation, and discuss new amendments introduced in the game.
Amr Mubarak appreciated the trust he received from the Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki - who supports and cares for all sports federations and their representatives at the continental and international levels - and from his deputy, Prince Fahd bin Jiluwi. He pointed out that this position will be an incentive to provide the best for Saudi and Asian water polo. He also praised the role of the Saudi Swimming Federation, led by President Aqeel bin Mohammed Al-Shaibani, his deputy Louay Tashkandi, and Executive Director Dr. Ziad Abu Al-Hamael, for their trust and support during the past period, emphasizing that he will be a good ambassador for the federation in this new position, which is a tribute to all those working in the Saudi Swimming Federation and the water polo family, including clubs, players, technical staff, and management.
It is worth mentioning that Amr Mubarak began practicing swimming in 1978 and retired from playing in 1993. He was one of the fastest Saudi swimmers in "freestyle" and "breaststroke." He has held the position of General Supervisor of the water polo game at the Saudi Swimming Federation since 2021 and has held several positions in the federation, having worked as an assistant coach for the water polo national team before being appointed as the Vice President of the Water Polo Federation previously. He also served as the Executive Director of the Pentathlon Federation and was the director of the swimming championship at the Saudi Games 2024. His first international participation was in the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1978, and he represented the Saudi swimming team in the Gulf Championship in Baghdad in 1980. In the same year, he participated in the Islamic Games in Izmir, Turkey, and represented Saudi Arabia in both swimming and water polo at the Asian Games held in New Delhi in 1982. In 1984, he won a gold medal with his teammates in the water polo team, which was the first regional gold medal for the sport. In the same year, he contributed with his teammates to winning a silver medal in the Arab Championship hosted by the Syrian capital, Damascus. He won four medals while in the supervisory position (one gold and two silvers) at the Arab level in 2022 in Cairo, 2024 in Doha, and 2025 in Casablanca, as well as a Gulf silver medal in Doha in 2021.
