وانتهى اللقاء الذي جمع المنتخبين في مكسيكو سيتي بفوز المكسيك بهدفي جوليان كينيونيس (د 9) وراؤول خيمينيز (د 67)، لكن الحدث الأبرز كان سجل الانضباط الكارثي.
وتعرض مدافعا جنوب أفريقيا «يايا سيتول» و«ثيمبا زواني» للطرد، ليلحق بهما مدافع المكسيك «سيزار مونتيس»، في سيناريو غير مسبوق بمباريات الافتتاح.
