اعتمدت هيئة الدستور الغذائي في دورتها الـ (49) في جنيف، مواصفة غذائية لمنتج المعمول، التي تولّت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء رئاسة أعمال إعدادها ضمن اللجنة التنسيقية لهيئة الدستور الغذائي لدول الشرق الأدنى.
ويُسهم اعتماد المواصفة في توحيد المتطلبات الفنية لمنتج المعمول، ويدعم نفاذ المنتجات الوطنية عالية الجودة إلى الأسواق الإقليمية والدولية، خصوصا أن السعودية تُعتبر من أبرز الدول المنتجة له، إذ يُعد من المنتجات التي تدعم الصناعات التحويلية للتمور.
ويُعد المعمول من المنتجات المخبوزة التي تُحضَّر من الدقيق أو السميد، ويتكون من عجينة تُحشى عادةً بعجينة التمر أو المكسرات.
ويأتي الاعتماد امتدادًا لمشاركة السعودية ممثلة بالهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء في أعمال تطوير المواصفات الغذائية الإقليمية والدولية وتوحيد متطلباتها الفنية، بما يعزز سلامة المنتجات الغذائية وتُسهيل تجارتها ودعم أهداف الهيئة في حماية المستهلك.
يشار إلى أن المملكة سبق لها المشاركة في رئاسة مجموعة العمل الدولية المعنية بإعداد أول مواصفة دولية للتمور الطازجة، وتشغل منصب نائب رئيس هيئة الدستور الغذائي منذ عام 2024.
The Food Codex Authority, in its 49th session in Geneva, adopted a food specification for the Maamoul product, which was prepared under the leadership of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority within the coordinating committee of the Food Codex Authority for the Near East countries.
The adoption of the specification contributes to unifying the technical requirements for the Maamoul product and supports the access of high-quality national products to regional and international markets, especially since Saudi Arabia is considered one of the leading countries in its production, as it is one of the products that support the processing industries for dates.
Maamoul is considered a baked product made from flour or semolina, and it consists of a dough that is usually filled with date paste or nuts.
The adoption comes as an extension of Saudi Arabia's participation, represented by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, in the development of regional and international food specifications and the unification of their technical requirements, which enhances the safety of food products, facilitates their trade, and supports the Authority's goals in consumer protection.
It is worth noting that the Kingdom previously participated in chairing the international working group responsible for preparing the first international specification for fresh dates and has held the position of Vice President of the Food Codex Authority since 2024.
