Today (Thursday), death has taken away "The Poet of a Million," Hakem Al-Mualla, at the age of 57, after a long struggle with cancer.

Hakem Mishal Al-Mualla Al-Shammari is considered one of the knights of poetry who emerged in the 1980s through publications in newspapers and magazines specialized in folk poetry. He was a prominent member of the popular forum in the Eastern Province and participated in the Million Poet program in 2008.

Al-Mualla, born in Hail in the year 1390 AH, moved to the Eastern Province due to his work and settled in the city of Dammam, where he began his media career by publishing his poems and making his media presence known.

The late poet wrote many distinguished poems, including one that begins with:

Do not ask me about the reasons for the anger... I don't know

Perhaps my soul, due to the abundance of neglect, has found peace

Or maybe I knew the secret since my childhood

There is no sadness in the dove..! If it mourned

Until I took on estrangement in the prime of my life

Nature has pushed away the beloved... but has not retreated

I swear I do not cry, but from the glow of my ember

Smell the scent of oud; if it weren't for the ember, it wouldn't have wafted
