كنت أظن أن الإناث يملن أكثر من الذكور إلى احترام الأنظمة المرورية والتقيد بالتعليمات أثناء القيادة، فطبيعة المرأة الرقيقة تجعلها أقل جرأةً في تحدي الأنظمة، على الأقل في مجتمعنا الذي ما زال يحتفظ بخصوصيةٍ لمكانة المرأة!
لذلك أتفاجأ عندما أجد سائقة تقود سيارتها بتهور، أو تتخطى على كتف الطريق، أو تسلك المسار الأحمر المخصص لحافلات النقل العام، أو تستخدم هاتفها الجوال أثناء القيادة، فالانطباع السائد أن المرأة بشكل عام أكثر ميلاً للالتزام بالقوانين من الرجل!
في المقابل، أعترف بأن كثيراً من السائقات أظهرن مهارات فائقة في القيادة، وهذا دليل على الثقة بالنفس والتركيز الذي تتميز به المرأة عموماً، بينما يكاد لا يخلو سجل أي سائق ذكر في مجتمعنا من ارتكاب الحوادث في بداياته نتيجة التهور، وعندما أتذكر بدايات ممارستي السياقة أشعر بالخجل والندم تجاه والدي الذي تحمّل الكثير من نتائج تلك الفترة المبكرة من عمري، وأظن أن الحال ينطبق على كثير من الآباء!
باختصار.. أرجو من زميلاتنا على الطريق ألا يجعلن بعض السائقين مثلاً يُحتذى به، وأن يظهرن تميزهن ويحافظن على الانطباع الإيجابي السائد باحترامهن للأنظمة والالتزام بالقوانين، فشوارعنا المليئة بالمتهورين لا ينقصها متهورات!

I used to think that females are more inclined than males to respect traffic regulations and adhere to instructions while driving, as the delicate nature of women makes them less bold in challenging the rules, at least in our society which still maintains a certain privacy regarding the status of women!
Therefore, I am surprised when I find a female driver driving recklessly, or overtaking on the shoulder of the road, or using the red lane designated for public transport buses, or using her mobile phone while driving, as the prevailing impression is that women, in general, are more likely to comply with the laws than men!
On the other hand, I admit that many female drivers have shown exceptional driving skills, which is evidence of the self-confidence and focus that women generally possess, while it is almost impossible to find a record of any male driver in our society that does not include accidents in their early days due to recklessness. When I remember the beginnings of my driving practice, I feel shame and regret towards my parents who endured a lot of the consequences of that early period in my life, and I believe this applies to many parents!
In short.. I hope that our female colleagues on the road do not make some drivers a role model to follow, and that they showcase their distinction and maintain the positive impression by respecting the rules and adhering to the laws, as our streets filled with reckless drivers do not need more recklessness!
