The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, Advisor Turki Al-Sheikh, once wrote: “Your words have no value if not accompanied by actions.” This is a clear piece of advice for the giants of procrastination, those sleeping in the lap of laziness, champions of repeated excuses, and shameful justifications.
He wrote this as a man who has never said, “I tried and couldn’t”; because simply put, he is a fierce warrior who neither flees nor surrenders, which is why he always triumphs. He fights the battle as a responsible leader, as a strong citizen, and as a man loyal to the leadership that believed in him, entrusted him, and granted him its full confidence. He bore the trust on his shoulders, took on the responsibility of preserving it, and fought several wars for it both inside and outside Saudi Arabia. He was a voice for his country, and a whip against its enemies, the haters who wish to keep it in its old state, those who despise its “vision,” and its vision as it strides into the future with all its grandeur and splendor.
He knows for certain that victory is not granted but seized from the hands of defeat, and that dreams and hopes without action, promises without achievement, and appointments without dates and times are merely illusions scattered by the wind, and scattered by lies in the eyes of the waiting onlookers.
This steadfast courage, which draws its strength, boldness, and progress from His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the maker of change, the architect of impact and influence, the life that has surged in Saudi Arabia, and the spirit by which Saudis live, our beloved, and our share of pride and dignity in the whole world, is what shaped Turki Al-Sheikh’s character and made him open doors without knocking on them—doors that others dared not approach. Even this “brave heart” knew that there would be those who would try to extinguish the light, but he also knew that “the darker it gets, the closer dawn comes,” so he decided to go to “dawn” rather than wait for it to come, until the darkness of the obstructors, who dwell in the depths of rejection, champions of empty talk, quickly dissipated.
His compass always pointed towards executing the orders of his leaders and fulfilling his national duties without pause or relaxation. He does not settle for merely being present in the scene; he creates the scene itself, giving it its colors, light, rhythm, and impact.
He does not believe that change is a coincidence, but rather a deliberate action, and an insistence that never catches its breath until it reaches its goal. The German writer and philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said: “It is not enough to know; we must apply. It is not enough to want; we must do.” “Abu Nasser” knows, wants, applies, and acts. He interacts, making you feel that everything said about the impossible was just a lie invented by the procrastinators, the masters of “putting off today’s work until tomorrow.” He works as if every day is his last chance to serve his country; he is not just a name on the list of success makers, but one of those who write this list and sign it in the name of the homeland.
One step back, just one, and you will see how Turki Al-Sheikh accomplished the “difficult” task entrusted to him: to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia an international stage for boxing and wrestling, and to re-export these two sports to the world with an authentic Saudi flavor.
The Saudi official, who illuminated the matches with his confident and majestic presence, wearing his Saudi attire—a bright white thobe that pleases the Saudis—was a clear declaration of the Kingdom’s sovereignty over the production of this global sport. He moved forward in signing major agreements and overseeing the largest matches that captivated the minds of wrestling enthusiasts and the audiences of its bloody battles, while his “ghutrah” draped over his head and shoulders like a banner of victory, and in his heart, the green flag of unification fluttered with unmatched pride.
He does this deliberately to make a loud announcement that “our great Kingdom” leads this industry with its attire, traditions, culture, and history.
Thus, boxing and wrestling are no longer exclusive to London, Las Vegas, or New York, but Riyadh has become the brightest address amid the lights of the world.
Global fighters now boast that their names are etched on Saudi rings, and sponsoring companies compete to secure a foothold in the boxing festivals crafted in the land of the Two Holy Mosques.
He insisted at every global event, from major boxing matches to WWE shock festivals, that “our country” should not just be a funder or a host, but a decision-maker and a genuine partner in the content of the game and the way it is presented. Thus, every glove raised and every belt awarded in the Kingdom stands witness to its new sovereignty over these sports.
Those who monitor events know perfectly well that Turki Al-Sheikh does not sit in his office happily reading what the media has written about his achievements; rather, he takes the lead in the rings himself, signing contracts, welcoming audiences, and checking the small details before the big ones.
In every position he has held in the decision-making chair, and in every task he has taken on (he has succeeded and excelled in it), he has presented it in an impressive manner.
He has an extraordinary ability to create the scene, elevate the level of interest in it, increase the space for interaction with it, and expand its reach. He was very clever in instilling spirit into every idea and skilled at transforming it into an emotional event that excites people, who follow its news, participate in it, and defend it.
The tasks increase, the circle of responsibilities expands, and the challenges peak, but “Abu Nasser” excels over them all, because: “like a mountain, he is steadfast, and no wind has shaken him,” defeating the impossible and shortening time. Achieving success is his hobby, and his sacred mission is to serve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; thus, his fiercest enemies, and those who harbor the most hatred and resentment towards him, are the troublemakers in the shadows, driven by envy, spending on illusions thinking that the wind can uproot mountains. They fight a man who has devoted his soul to his king and country, carrying their love in his heart, until he became strong because of them and for them.
He is a great Saudi story that will be told one day, so the world can realize even more how great Saudi Arabia is, with its leaders, its men, and its children.
