فاز منتخب إسبانيا على مضيفه منتخب تركيا بستة أهداف دون مقابل، في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على استاد ميداش كونيه الكبرى بمدينة قونيا التركية، ضمن لقاءات الجولة الثانية من المجموعة الخامسة من تصفيات أوروبا المؤهلة إلى مونديال 2026.
أحرز أهداف إسبانيا ميكيل ميرينو (هاتريك د:22، 45+1، 57) وبيدري (هدفين د:6، 62) وفيران توريس (د:53)، ليحقق المنتخب الإسباني انتصاره الثاني على التوالي ويتصدر منتخبات المجموعة بالعلامة الكاملة (6 نقاط)، فيما تلقى منتخب تركيا الخسارة الأولى وتجمد رصيده عند 3 نقاط، وتراجع للمركز الثالث بفارق الأهداف عن منتخب جورجيا الذي انتصر بثلاثية نظيفة على بلغاريا متذيل المجموعة دون نقاط.
وساهم ميكيل ميرنيو بانتصار منتخب بلاده بالسداسية بإحرازه نصفها، ليرفع رصيده إلى 6 أهداف في 6 مباريات خاضها مع منتخب بلاده منذ بداية العام، ليصبح بذلك أكثر لاعبي خط الوسط في القارة الأوروبية تسجيلاً للأهداف على مستوى المنتخبات في العام الجاري.
كما تمكن زميله ميكيل أويارزابال من صناعة هدفين في اللقاء ليصبح من أكثر اللاعبين الأوروبيين مساهمة في الأهداف خلال 2025، بعدما رفع رصيده إلى 8 مساهمات بواقع 4 أهداف و4 تمريرات حاسمة، ليعادل رصيد الهولندي ممفيس ديباي الذي يملك 8 مساهمات أيضاً (6 أهداف وتمريرتان حاسمتان)، فيما يأتي الكرواتي إيفان بيريزيتش خلفهما بـ7 مساهمات (3 أهداف و4 تمريرات حاسمة).

The Spanish national team defeated their host, the Turkish national team, by six goals to none, in a match held at the Konya Büyükşehir Stadium in the Turkish city of Konya, as part of the second round of Group E in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Spain's goals were scored by Mikel Merino (hat-trick at: 22, 45+1, 57), Pedri (two goals at: 6, 62), and Ferran Torres (at: 53), allowing the Spanish team to achieve their second consecutive victory and top the group standings with a perfect score (6 points). Meanwhile, Turkey suffered their first loss, remaining at 3 points, and dropped to third place due to goal difference behind Georgia, which won 3-0 against Bulgaria, the group’s bottom team with no points.
Mikel Merino contributed to his country's victory with half of the goals, raising his tally to 6 goals in 6 matches played for his national team since the beginning of the year, making him the highest-scoring midfielder in Europe at the international level this year.
His teammate Mikel Oyarzabal also managed to assist two goals in the match, becoming one of the most contributing European players in terms of goals during 2025, as he increased his contributions to 8, consisting of 4 goals and 4 assists, matching the Dutch player Memphis Depay, who also has 8 contributions (6 goals and 2 assists). Croatian Ivan Perišić follows them with 7 contributions (3 goals and 4 assists).
