The UAE expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian aggressive attack that targeted a ship belonging to ADNOC while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz, without any injuries reported.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement today, Saturday, that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasized the freedom of navigation and rejected the targeting of commercial vessels or disrupting international maritime routes.

It reported that targeting commercial navigation and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for pressure or economic extortion constitutes acts of piracy by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and poses a direct threat to the stability of the region and its peoples, as well as to global energy security.

The UAE stressed the necessity for Iran to halt these aggressive attacks to ensure its full commitment to cease all hostilities and to reopen the strait completely and unconditionally, which would achieve the security of the region and the stability of the global economy and trade.

ADNOC had announced that one of its ships was attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz last night (Friday), confirming that the incident did not result in any injuries.

The company stated in an official statement reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the situation was brought under control following the targeting of the ship, without disclosing additional details regarding the nature of the attack or the damage incurred.

ADNOC emphasized the importance of protecting the safety of sailors and ensuring freedom of navigation and maritime security. The company also urged the public to obtain information related to the incident from official sources only and to avoid circulating rumors or unreliable information.
