مصر تُعلن اكتشافات جديدة بمنطقة الدلتا لأول مرة منذ عامين

For the first time in two years, Egypt announced two new natural gas discoveries in the onshore Nile Delta region, the first achieved by a British company by drilling the well "North Sidi Ghazi 9-1," and the second by an Emirati company in the West Qantara area from the well "Salma Delta-6."

According to an official statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Egyptian, these two discoveries have been linked to the production map with a daily capacity of up to 19 million cubic feet of natural gas, enhancing production capabilities and reducing dependence on imports.

New Discoveries in the Nile Delta

The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Engineer Karim Badawy, announced that the Egyptian petroleum sector has achieved significant milestones represented in a series of new oil and natural gas discoveries, as part of a strategy to enhance local production and reduce the energy import bill, supporting the Egyptian economy.

These discoveries include areas in the onshore Nile Delta and the Western Desert, contributing to increased production rates and encouraging foreign investment through incentive policies and the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Achievements in the Western Desert

In the Western Desert region, two new discoveries were made: "SHAI-3X" and "WD 33J-1X," which have been included on the production map with a total daily production exceeding 3,550 barrels of crude oil and 23 million cubic feet of gas.

Additionally, the "Dorra-44" discovery was achieved with a daily production exceeding 500 barrels, while the General Petroleum Company recorded the "GPU-1X" discovery in the Abu Sinan area with a daily production rate of 350 barrels.

In the East Alam Al-Shawish area, a new discovery was made at the well "HG34/1 D-1X," which has been linked to production at a rate of nearly 1,000 barrels of oil per day.

Additional Discoveries and Advanced Technologies

Three new discoveries have also been recorded in the Eastern Desert, South Ghazalat, and North Um Baraka areas in the Western Desert, with evaluations of reserves and well testing currently underway.

It is noteworthy that these discoveries targeted deep geological layers for the first time, enhancing the chances of exploring additional resources and encouraging operating companies to intensify their efforts. The use of artificial intelligence technologies has also contributed to increasing drilling accuracy and the success of several wells.

Since last July, 18 new oil and gas discoveries have been achieved, of which 13 have been included on the production map with a daily rate of 14,000 barrels of oil and condensates and 44 million cubic feet of gas, contributing to significant savings in import costs.

Export of LNG Shipment to Turkey

In a related context, the Ministry of Petroleum announced the export of a liquefied natural gas shipment headed to Turkey, with a cargo estimated at about 150,000 cubic meters.
