أكد الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون للرئيس الجديد للجنة الإشراف على وقف الأعمال الحربية «الميكانيزم» الجنرال جوزيف كليرفيلد، أن لبنان يعلق آمالاً كبيرة على عمل اللجنة في المساعدة على إعادة الاستقرار إلى الجنوب ومنع الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية غير المقبولة، والضغط على إسرائيل للانسحاب من الأراضي التي لا تزال تحتلّها.
وشدد الرئيس عون خلال اللقاء على أن لبنان ملتزم بتطبيق جميع التدابير الأمنية التي اتخذتها قيادة الجيش، موضحاً أن أبناء الجنوب ولبنان عموماً لا يريدون العودة إلى أجواء الحرب.
من جهته، أوضح الجنرال كليرفيلد أن اجتماعات لجنة «الميكانيزم» ستُعقد بصورة دورية، بهدف تثبيت وقف الأعمال العدائية في الجنوب وتعزيز التنسيق الميداني بين الأطراف المعنية.
وفي إطار جولته، زار رئيس لجنة «الميكانيزم» رئيس مجلس الوزراء نواف سلام في السراي الحكومي، حيث جرى البحث في آليات التعاون بين اللجنة والسلطات اللبنانية.
وشن الطيران الحربي الإسرائيلي اليوم، سلسلة غارات جوية مكثفة استهدفت عدداً من المناطق في البقاع شرق لبنان، وطالبت الضربات جرود جنتا على السلسلة الشرقية، وامتدت لتشمل جرد شمسطار على السلسلة الغربية.
كما استهدفت غارتان جرود الهرمل، محدثة دوي انفجارات عنيفة سُمعت في مختلف أرجاء المنطقة.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun assured the new head of the ceasefire supervision committee, "the mechanism," General Joseph Clearfield, that Lebanon has high hopes for the committee's work in helping to restore stability to the south and preventing unacceptable Israeli aggressions, as well as pressuring Israel to withdraw from the territories it still occupies.
During the meeting, President Aoun emphasized that Lebanon is committed to implementing all security measures taken by the army leadership, clarifying that the people of the south and Lebanon in general do not want to return to the atmosphere of war.
For his part, General Clearfield explained that meetings of the "mechanism" committee will be held regularly, with the aim of solidifying the ceasefire in the south and enhancing field coordination among the concerned parties.
As part of his tour, the head of the "mechanism" committee visited Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the governmental palace, where discussions were held on mechanisms for cooperation between the committee and the Lebanese authorities.
Today, Israeli warplanes launched a series of intensive airstrikes targeting several areas in the Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon, with the strikes hitting the outskirts of Janta on the eastern range and extending to include the outskirts of Shamsar on the western range.
Additionally, two airstrikes targeted the outskirts of Hermel, causing loud explosions that were heard throughout the region.
