The Secretary of Taif, Engineer Abdullah Al-Zaydi, revealed to "Okaz" that the completion of the tunnel works in the project for the bridge and intersection of King Khalid Road with Khalid bin Al-Walid Street (formerly Al-Naseem intersection) is dependent on the availability of financial costs. "Okaz" has field-reported the presence of heavy equipment and machinery at the project site, awaiting the approval of the necessary funds to complete the remaining part of the tunnel, after the other parts of the project were inaugurated last week by the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Majid Al-Hoqail, who launched the overhead bridge and the intersection bridge, while meeting with the leadership of the Taif Municipality and reviewing the most prominent development projects, performance indicators, and the level of achievement in various sectors. The importance of completing the vital road system comes to facilitate traffic movement and reduce congestion in the governorate, and the project for the intersection of Khalid bin Al-Walid Road with King Khalid is considered one of the most important strategic projects to improve the efficiency of the road network in Taif. It is worth noting that the project has been delayed since its foundation stone was laid in 2019, and it is expected that the implementation of the underground tunnel will be completed soon after the necessary costs are approved.
