After its spread on social media platforms as a quick weight loss method, the Egyptian Drug Authority issued a warning about weight loss injections named (Slim Cut Shot), confirming that they are unregistered and unlicensed, and urged consumers not to be swayed by misleading advertisements or to purchase products from unknown sources.
The warning came after the authority monitored electronic promotional campaigns for the product on social media sites, which included marketing claims regarding its effectiveness in weight loss, at a time when the relevant authorities emphasized the importance of verifying the registration of any pharmaceutical product before use.
The Assistant Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority confirmed that the injections circulated under the name (Slim Cut Shot) are not registered with the authority, warning of the risks of using products from unknown sources that may pose a direct threat to consumers' health.
He stressed the necessity of obtaining medications and therapeutic products only from licensed pharmacies, and not relying on advertisements spread through social media platforms or unofficial channels when making health and treatment-related decisions.
The authority revealed that it had spotted an advertisement for the product on the account of a clinic on the (Instagram) platform, which included marketing claims for an unapproved product, prompting it to include it in the list of advertising violations, affirming that this action reflects its regulatory and supervisory stance and does not represent a judicial ruling.
The authority called on the public to verify the sources of pharmaceutical products before using them, and to report any suspicious advertisements or products through official channels, to help reduce the circulation of unlicensed products and protect consumers from potential risks.
