سجّلت جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية أكثر من 3,500 إصابة بفايروس إيبولا خلال بضعة أشهر، متجاوزة بذلك حصيلة أسوأ موجة وباء شهدتها البلاد بين عامي 2018 و2020، بحسب بيانات نشرتها السلطات أمس.
وحصد التفشي الأشد فتكاً في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية أرواح نحو 2,300 شخص من أصل 3,500 مصاب بين عامَي 2018 و2020.
وأُعلنت الموجة السابعة عشرة من انتشار الفايروس في الكونغو الديمقراطية في 15 مايو، وتشهد تفشياً بوتيرة غير مسبوقة، مع تسجيل البلاد في شهرين ونصف فقط 3,532 إصابة في 5 مقاطعات، بينها 1,556 حالة وفاة.
