في لحظة احتفالية نادرة جمعت التاريخ بالسياسة، كرّمت كوريا الجنوبية الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بمنحه أرفع وسام مدني في البلاد، «وسام موغونغوا العظيم»، إلى جانب تاج ذهبي رمزي يجسد السلام في شبه الجزيرة الكورية.
جرى التكريم اليوم (الأربعاء) في مدينة غيونغجو التاريخية، وسط حضور رسمي وإعلامي واسع، بحسب ما نقلته وسائل إعلام عالمية.
وخلال مراسم التكريم، تلقّى الرئيس الأمريكي الوسام وسط تصفيق الحاضرين، قبل أن يمازحهم قائلاً: «أود أن أرتديه الآن»، في إشارة مرحة إلى فرحته بالتكريم. كما قُدّم له تاج ذهبي مستوحى من تاج مملكة «شلا» القديمة، وهي قطعة أثرية ملكية تعود للقرن التاسع الميلادي، تمثل رمز الوحدة والسلام في التاريخ الكوري.
وأوضحت الرئاسة الكورية الجنوبية أن منح ترمب هذا الوسام جاء تقديرًا لجهوده في دفع عملية السلام بين الكوريتين، ووصفت التكريم بأنه «احتفاء بصانع سلام أسهم في خفض التوتر في المنطقة».
ويُعد ترمب أول رئيس أمريكي ينال هذا الوسام الذي يحمل اسم زهرة «الموغونغوا»، الزهرة الوطنية في كوريا الجنوبية.
وجاء هذا التكريم في ختام جولة آسيوية قام بها ترمب شملت اليابان وماليزيا وعددًا من الدول الأخرى، حيث حظي باستقبال استثنائي في سيول، تخللته تحية مدفعية وعزف فرقة عسكرية لأغنية YMCA الشهيرة عند وصول طائرته الرئاسية، في مشهد يجمع بين الطابع الرسمي واللمسة الاحتفالية المميزة.
In a rare celebratory moment that combined history with politics, South Korea honored U.S. President Donald Trump by awarding him the country's highest civilian honor, the "Order of Mugunghwa," along with a symbolic golden crown representing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The ceremony took place today (Wednesday) in the historic city of Gyeongju, amidst a wide official and media presence, according to reports from global media outlets.
During the ceremony, the U.S. president received the medal amidst applause from the attendees, before jokingly saying, "I would like to wear it now," in a playful reference to his joy at the honor. He was also presented with a golden crown inspired by the crown of the ancient Silla Kingdom, a royal artifact dating back to the 9th century, which represents a symbol of unity and peace in Korean history.
The South Korean presidency explained that awarding Trump this medal was in recognition of his efforts to advance the peace process between the two Koreas, describing the honor as a "celebration of a peacemaker who contributed to reducing tensions in the region."
Trump is the first U.S. president to receive this medal, which is named after the "mugunghwa" flower, the national flower of South Korea.
This honor came at the conclusion of an Asian tour that Trump undertook, which included Japan, Malaysia, and several other countries, where he received an exceptional welcome in Seoul, featuring a cannon salute and a military band playing the famous YMCA song upon the arrival of his presidential plane, in a scene that combined official decorum with a distinctive celebratory touch.
